Does speculation need to be spoiler'd?
I can't imagine Asami turning from the group unless something much more significant comes of the issue they're having. Her Dad's "I can't believe she's with them" line seems like it could lead in that direction, but to join the Equalists just seems like waaay too big of a jump to make.
Whys that? She cares a lot about a person, and a bender (the avatar no less) took him from her. I can see her joining the other side, temporarily, if Amon says he won't take Mako's bending when the time comes.
Yeah, if Amon makes a comment like he'd spare Mako's bending.. then maybe, depending on how things are, but if they actually wrote Asami so shallow.. that she'd betray these people just because she's jealous over the Avatar and all that shit for some high-school romance, then that'd be beyond silly and completely wreck her character as a whole.
Now if she 'joined' with her dad and went double agent.. that's another story.
There's just a massive divide in my mind from believing benders need to be equalized and are a problem for their world to stem from a lover's spat or even a now-estranged parent. Maybe she leaves them temporarily to step out of the conflict, but with the opposing side initiating a massive raid on their city, personal feelings just seem too insignificant. If it blows up into something else, then I don't know.
Yeah, like I said. I'd blame the writing heavily if something like that did happen and it wasn't apart of a bigger plan, but I don't see that going down. She seems like a real member of Team Avatar 2.
Yeah I posted before I saw yours, the double-agent angle seems totally plausible, but also like it would back-fire horribly given how cunning Amon has been thus far. I think she's here to stay as well, almost like Sokka split between Bo-lin's personality and having a non-bender in Asami to change the group dynamic.
Yeah, that guy she's been kind of sort of with for a whole few weeks @_@
Teenage romance is so annoying.
I believe Asami can defect, though if she will or not is still up in the air. Certainly seems mayad enough. However, she rebelled against her father of her own free will before, can't see her saying she was wrong and going back to him. She might join them temporarily under force though.
Pretty sure the way the father was fiddling with his pocket watch and looking at her picture there will be a scene where she is under attack by equalists and he will try to defend her, and die or just get hurt since its a kids show.
lol, not like they had trouble killing people off in TLA.
Also, I think Asami "might" defect. I mean, she seemed disgusted at her father and Amon's plans to rid the world of benders, but it seems she's there for Mako mostly. And yeah, Mako, Korra, I don't know....If it happens, it'll be this weekend. Also, calling avatar-state when Amon tries to take her bending.Spoiler: show
I don't think Amon's storyline is over once season is over, I consider him kind of like the Fire Lord of the original. Unless they find out Amon was just a puppet and there's a far bigger threat out there.
I'm thinking maybe, just maybe, she loses her bending at season finale and leaves the country, and next season will be about her training to get her bending back.
Iunno, it makes sense. She's already rather strong for a bender. And it allows for Amon to continue being the antagonist.
I could see something like that happening if Amon wasn't aware he can't permanently seal bending, if that is the case, AND I HOPE IT IS. Depending on his origin and how he learned it that seems possible.
I can't see Amon being more than a servant or something like possessed by a spirit. He's too focused on the city and I just can't see him keeping the city under control. As for Korra losing her bending I'm skeptical. At some point she's got to connect with the Avatar state and I think that's the perfect time when Amon is trying to do it. The only twist I suppose it might be all according to plan to use spirit bending on Korra during the Avatar state to break the link between them. Obviously they didn't put Amon in a mask for no reason though so unless it's just to hide his hideous burns I have a feeling he'll be some one of note.
Didn't the creators say there would be a different antagonist for each season? It's been amon all season 1, so this should probably be it for him, at least in a major role.
My guess is that there might actually be a spiritual fight ala Aang and Ozai(spelling).
Reading that note about there being rumors of a third season makes me a happy panda. I want a full 4 books this time though.
I don't even care about a third season, just make each season a real seasons length. This 10 and 12 episode shennigans is irritating as fuck. As it stands, even with the two seasons, its not as long as a normal season for most shows.
In the preview they did for the epic Korra vs. Amon finale, it shows Amon about to take her bending and then a close up on her eye being shut. You can pretty much guess it's going to open and be all glowy and she will go avatar state to stop her bending from being taken. Looked kinda obvious had the preview gone a second longer.
If Amon is supposed to be defeated by the end of the season then, yes, it's setting up for the Avatar State. If he's going to persist then, in my opinion, it's going to lead into Korra getting all spiritual since she's had the bending half of being the Avatar stripped from her until she can fix it.
