It's been looking like, to me at least (just finished the first season) it has been given roughly the same screen time stretched out over the whole season. The biggest difference, however, is that there is very very little drama involved. No triangles, just Aang <> Katara, Sokka <> Yue/Suki, etc.

And, I still get goosebumps when Aang and the ocean spirit join up and start ninja chopping the Fire Navy.

I think the nature of them being innocent kids who are just making googly eyes at each other takes away the frustration that watching aangsty teens making dumb relationship choices inspires

They very well may have, but the perceived age gap (I don't even know what the actual ages were/are) just makes it more bearable, at least to me.

Totally unrelated but has anyone come across any good interviews with any of the VAs? All I've found is something that seemed a little boring with Bo-Lin and an interview with a horrible fucking radio host and Korra.

There are so many scenes throughout A:TLA that deliver emotion to the audience. I didn't know avatar existed until I saw it by accident on tv. By then it was already near the season 1 finale and when I saw that Avatar State/Ocean spirit rampage I was amazed. The music and visuals really drove it home for me and made me an instant fan.

Somewhere in Republic City, this masked menace is plotting his next move. Is Amon one of these suspects? Is Amon you? And more importantly, can he be stopped?

Oh no, what a nightmare lol

No idea why the fact that Amon's mask has the big red dot right where he touches to take away bending finally jumped out at me from those joke videos, I wonder if there's anything to that or just a really obvious motif.

It does feel like the romance in LoK is a bit on-the-nose, but I think it's got a lot to do with the slightly more serious tone of the series. TLA felt a little more lighthearted and, for the most part, even seemed more brightly animated. So, young romance would fit a more airy atmosphere.

LoK's atmosphere doesn't feel dismal or anything, it just feels a little more... serious. This makes the romance feel a bit out of place, I think.

^They're uploading them to nick.com faster now. Every Monday. I'm usually too impatient though and find it online somehow.

Purely speculation, but a thought I had. Kinda spoilerish if you did not watch last weeks episode.

    Spoiler: show
Lin's obviously in an equalist prison now that her bending is gone. So is Tarrlok, I assume. I can see the writers teaming them up somehow. Maybe a prison escape subplot, or something.

At least in Lin's case, she had better not be out of the game yet. She seriously can be a badass without bending.

Yeah, I also say TLA feels better because it was confirmed as a longer series from the start. Sort of a "Chuck" situation (granted Korra's never been in danger of being canned), but yeah. It's that sort of situation I think. First they figured it was a season thing, then got expanded to two, and now there's talks for a third.

But yeah, my point.. TLA had a lot more room to be serious, or make jokes through some of the episodes, but Korra's been pretty much story story story outside of like.. one episode. And even that had a few moments of seriousness. I'm thinking season 2 will have some more 'fun/non-serious' moments.

As for the spoilerish stuff and someone saying that can't be the explanation because it's too long to fit into 2 eps, I disagree. This show is great at truncating plot points into the shortest form possible >_>

TLA villians: Azula is the best imo, hands down. Her character reaped the benefit of having been developed over the course of 2 seasons, because the extra time gave the audience a lot more insight into her psyche and way of doing things. Zhao lacked that development, and he also lacked the extra backstory development Azula got for being part of the Fire King's family, otherwise I think he would have been just as good.

One interesting point about Azula is that she wasn't just bad. She had a ton of depth, a sensitive layer buried far underneath her outward confidence and brutality that glimmered through only once or twice, but each time it did it was extremely potent. Also, she wasn't defeated thanks to some deus ex machina like Zhao, she was defeated thanks to her own obvious mistakes and the fact that she was outnumbered almost all of the time. She lost her posse because she controlled them with force instead of loyalty, she was extra paranoid and fired her entire staff, she spent so much time using Zuko as a scapegoat that she failed to see how much of a threat he could become, etc. Overall, just a totally interesting character, and the way she snapped at the end was an awesome and unusual way for a villian to go out.

Yeah, Azula wasn't just MAD/crazy.. she had a lot of depth to her character that proceeded to drive her character nutso by time the finale went on.

In comparing past villains (Ozai, Azula, Zhao) to Amon.. it's apples and oranges. Ozai wanted to rule the world, Zhao wanted..Zuko out of the way, and Azula was nuts. Amon's the kind of villain that's 'fighting' for the certain group of people (non-benders) while also fighting for his own reasoning/vengeance as well. And he's calculating. A lot of his plots have gone off without a hitch, and he's covered for a lot of weaknesses he may potentially have. He's probably my favorite in terms of the type of cunning character he is.

I like the way Amon operates but it's hard to find him as interesting as Zuko or Azula for me. I think my problem is that he's so cold in everything he does that it's hard to believe his motivations are what he says they are. Vengeance, civil equality; these are things that by their nature inspire passion, but Amon is anything but passionate. So, this combined with the fact that he hides his identity make it seem as though his real motives are as yet unknown, and it's hard to get invested in a character with unknown/unclear motives.

Speaking of "villians," does anyone else think the leader of the wolfbats might turn into a recurring ally character like Jet's gang or Tsuki if Korra finds a way to restore everyone's bending?
