S2 is most likely gonna be a completely different conflict. Amon is gone, benders and non benders can get along again woo. I'm hoping to see something related to TLA, personally. I'm banking on S2 including a LOT more references to the original show though (like Zuko's grandson appearing and the things the old cast did before they died, that kind of stuff).

Then again, let's consider: In TLA, Firebenders were the main villians. Now we had waterbenders for Korra S1. Maybe S2 will introduce an Earthbender as a villian? Though, it would be kind of neat if the villian/driver of conflict ends up to be something other than a person. Maybe a spirit, or an idea, or a problem - something like that.

One thing that bothers me are the apparent leaps in technology the show keeps making. Every episode they have some kind of new special technology that probably would take years to invent. I'm not too terribly familiar with technology from whatever time period they're pulling it from (20s? 30s?) but it just seems kind of off to me somehow. Anyone else feel like that?

Those planes fit perfectly in the time period. The mecha tanks not so much, but even TLA had some technology that didn't fit perfectly. Shit, they already had tanks in TLA, so honestly the mechas in this one are reasonable lol.

I guess I was okay with the tanks in TLA because, as far as I could tell, they ran on bending power. Bending power - making power from nothing instead of relying on a machine to do it for you - would actually allow for quite a few leaps of technological advancement. The submarines in TLA were just "wtf am I looking at?" though.

Bhumi's a non bender (right?) and he's second in command of the world army lol. The earth king as far as i know (while 70 years ago) was a non bender. I can't think of any actual discrimination from the government or society in general against non benders.
    Bumi was a non-bender, yeah.

He got captured by Asami. Electric boa thing.

Next season has something to do with the Southern or Northern Water Tribes.

    Proof:
    Series 1; Book 1: Water
    Series 1; Book 2: Earth

    Series 2; Book 1: Air

I want Iroh to join Team Avatar next season. Maybe Asami will move on to Iroh since he's so much better -- he freaking punched a missile, how can you beat that!? Did Mako punch a missile?? Didn't think so!

Haha, when Mako was fighting Amon, I said that it looked like Amon was gonna force him to shoot lightning into his own chin, and my wife yelled "Stop bending yourself! Stop bending yourself!" But then Make had to be a badass and shoot amon, ruining the joke

I agree, Iroh seems like a much better catch from what we already know about him. Mako is just the average angsty semi-asshole teen (whereas Bolin is the nice guy type who always gets kicked around and friendzoned, poor guy). Asami can do much better.

I think they need to clarify his age. He seems too old for Asami tbh. <_<

Iroh must be 30ish I would think. How old is asami though? Kora is 16, so im guessing mako is 17 or 18, and Bolin is 16 or 17? They're professional athletes lol, so honestly they should both be older I would think.

    Spoiler: show
Man Tarlok... classic Avatar: The Last Airbender character swings. Fuck I hated the damn guy after he kidnapped Korra and was so sneaky and slimy throughout the whole series!

But then bam. Suddenly, I all that manipulation and underhandedness and so called "badness" was completely wiped from my mind. He wasn't just a side villian anymore, but someone I actually sympathized with. It's a "Ember Island" episode all over again, albeit much more intense.

What an end to go. But really, could it have been any more perfect than that? The sad tale comes to an end.

Man, I just fuckin' love Avatar.

Still seeing being very likely that Amon had some form of spirit bending. If it was just physical damage like tearing nerve connections then most likely Katara would have been able to cure it. Nothing more may come of it other than speculation but I think there's still room for them to introduce a villian from the spirit realm.

Also some one was mentioning Amon using blood bending before this episode. Are you just referring to when he used it fighting Tarrlok or was there another instance? Personally I thought they did a pretty good job on implying some connection between Tarrlok and Amon but brothers was a big reveal. Heck even after he takes off his mask I was still thinking, "damn was that story just to mess with Korra and make her lose even more cred with the people?"

Not so much using Blood Bending, but when Tarlok attempted to Blood Bend Amon, he was able to resist it. Also, I think it was either said or implied somewhere the reason why no one was able to hit him in battle was because he was slightly controling their movements to throw them off.

The way I see it, we know Katara is a great healer based on the previous show, but most of what we saw her heal was physical injuries -- burns, bruises, etc. But those were all injuries that could be seen, so if Katara didn't know how Amon was using Bloodbending to prevent people from bending (whether it was through clots or somehow through chakras), she couldn't heal it. The only major injury we saw her heal was Aang getting shot by Azula, but for that she had to use the special water from the spirit pond. Perhaps if she used that, it would have healed Korra -- but then again, given that it's the Avatar, you'd think they would have used it too, so maybe it does come down to she knew what Aang's injury was back then.

It's impossible to say what he was doing because Aang actually had to return her bending via Avatar state and use the proper technique for taking/giving bending.

It really shouldn't be just left up in the air like that though. There should be an official explanation for whatever Amon was doing, even if it is an implausible one. It was one of the main points of conflict in the show and yet it wasn't explained. All the other points of conflict were explained. They better explain it D:

He used his bloodbending to block people's bending. Thats the explanation they gave in the show, and honestly its all we nee. We can fill in the holes. Going into detail about how exactly he was blocking something in their brain or something is a waste of time when they have to struggle to fit everything into just 12 episodes already. Of all the things I'd want them to add if they had more time, this would be at the bottom of the list.
