Just somewhat recently finally watched all of Avatar and caught up on this as well. That will piss me off so much lol. I guess it depends on its viewers vs. other shows on this channel or if it was already part of some contract deal and they will finish it no matter what.

I'd just like to point out, he wasn't just practicing, he was doing the Dancing Dragon, just as Aang and Zuko did when they learned how to properly bend fire. Meaning that even in the original show, we saw people who could actually USE fire, but still LEARN proper Fire Bending from the animal masters. I think the story as a whole explained very clearly the origins of people's abilities to use the Elements, as well as the animal masters role in teaching humanity how these powers properly worked. That said, I agree it was a shame we couldn't see Wan train with the other animals during his montage. Just a single added episode to this story would've been more then enough to fit in whatever felt like it was left out.

Also, this nicely ties back into Korra's story and explains why the writers have had her acting like such a tool. Her story more or less reflects that of the original Avatar. In attempting to use her powers for good, they both incited war between humans as well as strengthened the spirit of Darkness. It also gives the entire season an over-arching villain to build to and a massive final battle to look forward to that actually does trump the stakes of what the previous villains of the show would have caused. These two episodes completely redeemed the prior six as they pretty much spelt out why things happened the way they happened so far and now obfuscates the motives of Unalaq (is he actually out for power or did he intend to actually do something to prevent the evil spirit's awakening or is he an unwitting pawn of the evil spirit etc etc) bringing back a bit of unpredictability to the plot.

I figured people would've learned from previous Avatar seasons, this show plays the long game. They always start off slow but pay off big. This season is looking no different from the last four we've already gotten.

Nick isn't like Cartoon Network, they won't just can a show mid season with no explanation. Especially one that's proven itself a massive success (both critically and marketabley) and has a massive fanbase following. This is the network that has kept both Spongebob and the Fairly Odd Parents on TV for well over a decade. Korra won't get cancelled before they finish this season. The real question is will they be able to come up with a next season for this current Avatar?

Unless I'm mistaken, they've already signed on for books three and four and are already in the process of making them.

The reason the viewership is so different is because they moved it to Friday night, a graveyard of ratings/viewership numbers, from Saturday morning.

Well, I guess we can rule out Unalaq being misguided after this episode. The question is whether he is just being manipulated like Wan was at first, or is he just evil.

So happy Korra reunited with Tenzen's family. They were definitely one of the best parts of this season so far, and it's nice seeing them doing relevant things, not just goofing off.

Holy Fuck, Animation was garbage. Knowing that this is Studio Pierrot's final episode makes me happy. I hope they never get hired for S3+4

No kidding, jeez. Only Korra and Tenzin were animated anywhere near decently, although Varik's evil/mad look was quite good. Pierrot has always been kind of a bottom of the barrel studio anyway though so wouldn't have expected much. Though still way better than 95% of American cartoons so complaints aren't totally justified in this case.

    Spoiler: show
Well Unalok is just Tarlok's Dad v.2. NO I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR WELL BEING, KEEP BENDING, BITCH. Kind of sad that he'd use his own kids that way but this isn't exactly a new story for Korra. It's too bad there's so little variation in the villians so far. I know they can write better than that.

At least Korra isn't a bitch anymore, yaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy! For now... she could always regress again...
Speaking of regression, god Mako is as good as back with Asami, figures. I hope he just sticks with her this time, they work as a couple a lot better than Mako and Korra. Plus Asami treated him way better than Korra.

I am expecting Lin to believe Mako in the end and release him from prison to take down Varik while Korra takes down Unalok.
There's no way she can be this stupid forever. Right? She needs redemption too at this point.

Tenzin's posse is awesome and seeing them is always fun, so I'm glad they featured prominently in this episode. I sorta facepalmed when I had the same exact reaction as the little girl to the spirits "...bunnies! :D " I'm really a 5 year old sometimes. I do feel for Tenzin though, not being able to do the thing he's studied for his whole life. I know the feeling... poor guy...

    Spoiler: show
It kinda seems like Kya is the only one who doesn't have a sense of "I disappointed dad" looming over her. But, she might have just gotten over it while she was traveling all over the world. I did notice she had a betrothal necklace this episode, and it made me wonder about Kya's and Bumi's families -- IE, are they married, kids, etc?
