    Far Cry 2's SecuROM

I couldn't find an answer on the net about this exact question so here goes...

Far Cry 2 originally shipped with SecuROM even on the Steam version, and I know patch 1.03 later removed the activation limit for it. Does this remove the SecuROM entirely when patching or does it just remove the activation limits from the game?

I utterly despise all forms of SecuROM and don't want to install them so what I need to know is if the 1.03 patch will erase all traces of SecuROM (or perhaps dose the Steam copy come pre-patched and never have it to begin with?)

I bought it recently on Steam in the Ubisoft hits bundle, but may end up having to "pirate" it to avoid having SecuROM cluttering up my machine. Though I don't want to have to resort to that unless it is necessary since it causes other problems.

Thanks for your time and in advance for any help with this!

    :shame:

I don't remember any Securom activation windows when I installed it, but then I've never had any problems with any of the DRM's and I already have Securom on my PC from other games.

Did you install it through Steam at a time after the 1.03 patch was released (patched out SecuROM)?
