if they do remake it, i hope they keep all the original voice actors and sound effects. Nothing would be worse than hearing "ahh eee ohhhh, killer toffuuuu" sung in a Justin Beiber voice.

Every Nicktoon ever made leaves a big metaplot hanging. One of the bigger 'rules' hovering over Nicktoon production is that you're not supposed to give any indication that the show is going to end, or produce a 'finale' of any kind. That's what got Angry Beavers into trouble.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are making an animated come back, and here's your first look at the new character designs. The new series is being developed by Nickelodeon, and it will be developed using CG animation. According to executive producer Ciro Nieli, "The four turtle protagonists, who previously could only be distinguished by the color of their masks, will each have 'more individual attributes.'" Judging by the image above the look pretty similar to me.

The series is set to debut in 2012 on Nickelodeon. I'm a huge fan of the TMNT crew. I grew up watching the original cartoon, and reading the comics, I doubt I'll watch this new series, but I hope it's good enough for my kids to enjoy.

Viacom bought the rights to the TMNT franchise from Mirage Group and 4Kids Entertainment for $60 million back in 2009. I'm sure we'll eventually see a new movie made as well.

On the topic of remakes, it's not nickelodeon but.. I would LOVE to see them continue "So Weird" off of Disney. I absolutely loved that show, especially the first two seasons. The last season with the new chick was meh but watchable. Plus they had some good original songs.

In reaction to all this nostalgia madness, Nickelodeon is actually doing something:

EW has learned exclusively that starting this fall, TeenNick will dust off old faves like Rugrats, Kenan & Kel, Pete & Pete, The Amanda Show, All That and Clarissa and air them in a new midnight-to-2 a.m. programming block dubbed (appropriately enough) The ’90s Are All That. The tween cabler came up with the idea after seeing the huge interest in early Nickelodeon programming on social media sites. There are several Facebook pages — followed by millions of fans — that are devoted to Nickelodeon shows from the ’90s.

“At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11,” Keith Dawkins, senior VP and general manager of TeenNick, tells EW. “It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”

Also, on the topic of different weapons, anyone remember the old (and terrible) live action Turtles show from sometime in the 90s (had the female turtle)? I think Mikey had tonfas in that because they deemed nunchucks were too violent.
