Cool, a reason to spend merits. Been capped on merits since abyssea came out.
This, would honestly be tempted to deactivate for some time if they don't add any content beyond the "new" Dynamis. Making Empyreans and such is cool for a time, but what is there to do after? I don't know about other people, but Abyssea is starting to get old really fast for me. At first I thought Abyssea removed the majority of the "grind" in ffxi, but Empyrean weapons are more or less the replacement for most people.
Bah, quotes didn't work right.Craft Skill Limitations
Hello!
In an effort to enhance future development, we would like to gather some feedback from all of the crafters in Vana’diel in regards to the below. We encourage you to discuss this with your fellow players and provide feedback on the direction we’re contemplating.
As you are aware, there is a limit for craft skills where once you reach skill level 60, you are limited to 40 more levels to distribute amongst the other eight crafts (excluding fishing). As such, the system only allows you to be able to reach 100 if you gain all 40 skill levels in one craft, or you can raise two crafts to 80 if you gain 20 levels in two different crafts.
For the future expansion of synthesis and synergy, we’re looking into raising the skill level limitation from 40 to 80 during the next version update. Once this change takes place, you will then be able to have two crafts leveled to 100.
Since this change would alter the core of the crafting system, before serious development discussions begin we would like to hear feedback from all of our hardcore crafters.
The main points of adjustments beginning from the next version update and on are listed below:
Raise the 40 skills levels that can be distributed when a skill reaches 60 to 80. (Makes possible the ability to level two skills to 100)
For the next version update “Revoking Craftsmanship Status” will remain the same as original (Bringing your skill down to 60). For future version updates we plan on making adjustments so that the system allows you to decide which craft skill you would like craftsmanship revoked.
Additionally for future adjustments we are thinking about increasing the levels further beyond 80.
This will be extremely advantageous for synergy, however, due to the fact that these changes would likely cause the number of players with skills at level 100 to increase significantly, there might be some concerns in regards to how the balance of supply and demand are affected.
After collecting your feedback for about a week, we’ll examine it closely with the development and operations teams after which we plan on working on this after the next version update. In order for us to improve the synthesis and synergy systems of FFXI please leave as much feedback as possible!Crafting is already dying for an overhaul to increase demand. While things like Cooking might see use post-Abyssea, the majority of gear is off NPCs which means durable crafts get the short end of the stick.
Raising the cap to two 100 crafts wont really matter as the most desirable things are via synergy which doesn't count towards the cap already.
Unless they plan some craft-based endgame event, raising the cap to two 100s should be fine.
All this really does for me is allow me to no longer force me to take a choice between the two crafts I originally wanted to level.
sounds great for Synergy soloing.
Old HNMs dev comments.
Im betting they will make newer versions in new BCs, or just make them a force spawn. Players suggested it like 5 years ago or so now so that means it should be reaching Square right about now.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...2415#post72415
You’ll be glad to know that in the next version update, adjustments will be made to land kings (Behemoth, Fafnir, Adamantoise). A new dev. thread will be created in the very near future bringing with it more details, but for now feel free to discuss what you think the dev. has in mind!
Yeah, back in the days when Dreizack was the best polearm a DRG could use other than relic, and WARs and RNG would sell their souls for those axes. Hell, even if you got shafted on the big money drops, doing the Behemoth was a good way to make money because you were guaranteed at least Behemoth hides or horns. /Nostalgia
Easy mode gripes asde, lets face it, the new dev team is far more forward thinking and player responsive. Had they been in charge 5 years ago, they'd likely have done it when the community asked. Now they're playing 5 years of catch-up revising old content (within PS2 limitiations, of course ... lol)
That's true, I was speaking about the old dev team talking-to-brick-wall approach.
Version Update May 10th
In conjunction with the major update scheduled for May 10, 2011, all auction houses will be merged into the Jeuno Auction House.
In preparation for this merger, the listing of items from auction houses in the following zones will be restricted between May 6, 2011 8:00 (GMT) and May 10, 2011 (GMT). These restrictions will not affect the bidding process or the withdrawal of items that have already been listed. Deposits will also still be possible.
Southern San d’Oria / Port San d’Oria / Bastok Mines Bastok Markets / Windurst Walls / Windurst Woods Rabao / Kazham / Norg
* Payments on winning bids and returns of items may still be made even if an auction expired during the period listed above.
* Auctions will continue normally at auction houses in the zones not mentioned above.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
*Further details on the maintenance scheduled for May 10, 2011 will be released at a later date.As previously announced, World Merge was postponed due to the delay of the major update it was scheduled to coincide with. The timing for the major update has since been set, and we would like to share with you the revised World Merge schedule.
Please refer to the notes listed under "Guidance on the World Merge" below for more details.
[Guidance on the World Merge]
- Schedule
World Merge will be performed during the upcoming maintenance scheduled for May 10, 2011. Once the maintenance is complete, characters from the "Source Worlds" will be migrated automatically to the "Destination Worlds."
* The schedule for the maintenance will be released at a later date.
- Details on the World Merge
The following is a list of Worlds designated for the World Merge.
Source World -> Destination World
Ramuh -> Bahamut
Alexander -> Shiva
Titan -> Phoenix
Gilgamesh -> Carbuncle
Unicorn -> Fenrir
Ifrit -> Odin
Diabolos -> Siren
Caitsith -> Ragnarok
* Other Worlds will not be affected.
- Things to note for the World Merge
Character Data:
Other than the data listed below, all character data will be transferred to the new World. This includes character status, items held by the character, items stored in Mog safes, banks, and the like, as well as items held by NPCs, gil, and key items.
Character Name:
In cases where a character with the same name already exists on the "Destination World," you may be required to change the name of your character. If this is necessary, your character name on the character selection screen before login will be displayed in yellow. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the change.
Changing the character name will not affect data such as your Friends List.
Items stored in the Delivery Box or Auction House:
Items and gil stored in the Delivery Box or Auction House will be deleted automatically when the World Merge takes place. Please move them to your character's belongings or Mog Safe before the World Merge.
Please note that items and gil lost in the merge cannot be restored through the Item Restoration service.
* Items and gil will only be deleted on the "Source World." There will be no impact on the "Destination World."
Linkshell, Pearlsack and Linkpearl:
Pearlsacks and linkpearls cannot be carried over to the "Destination World," and will disappear during the World Merge. Linkshell owners will receive an unopened linkshell when they log into the "Destination World" for the first time. Unopened linkshells will not be affected by the merge.
Please note that you will need to create a new linkshell community after creating a new linkshell on the "Destination World."
- Suspension of the World Transfer Service The World Transfer service was suspended as of Mar. 7, 2011 15:00 (GMT). It will resume once the World Merge is complete.
- Suspension of Character Creation
As of Mar. 2, 2011 12:00 (GMT), the following functions were disabled on “Source Worlds” and “Destination Worlds.” Once World Merge is complete they will be restored.
* Creation of new characters on the affected worlds
* Use of Gold World Passes on the affected worlds
- Suspension of Character Reactivation Service The character reactivation service was suspended as of Mar. 7, 2011 15:00 (GMT). Because it will take additional time to merge the character data from the “Source Worlds” and “Destination Worlds,” this service will not be immediately available following completion of the World Merge. Once a recovery date is determined we will make an announcement.
that's not to far off.
I wonder if there'll be a prep version update, considering theres no add-ons this time round
[dev1008] Fishing Improvements on the Way
The forthcoming version update will see two refinements aimed at anglers of Vana'diel: more informative fishing messages and the introduction of a "critical bite" system.
New fishing messages
Messages displayed upon getting a bite will indicate the size and type of your potential catch as follows:
Small fish: "Something caught the hook!"
Large fish: "Something caught the hook!!!"
Non-fish targets: "You feel something pulling at your line."
Monsters: "Something clamps onto your line ferociously!"
Critical bites
Players with fishing skill surpassing the rank of their target will register a critical bite, and be rewarded with advance knowledge as to the identity of their prey.
Ex.: (When scoring a critical bite against a black sole)
"Something caught the hook!
Your keen angler's senses tell you that this is the pull of a black sole!"
Scoring a critical bite will also slow the target's stamina recovery in the event of improper reeling, allowing players to reel in lower-level fish with greater ease.
We will also be implementing the next stage of efficiency tweaks and refinements to the fishing system code itself, a process which began last patch with the goal of allowing for a greater range of adjustments in the future. We will continue to monitor game balance and adjust the system as necessary.
Furthermore, we intend to preserve the timing-dependent minigame nature of the fishing system, and make balance tweaks and adjustments accordingly. We are also aware of the significant outstanding issues with RMT abuse and difficulty imbalances related to players’ system environments, and will continue working towards a viable solution. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
I dont fish but critical bite just sounds cool
