Agreed with Spira. On SMN, with an avatar out and the other perp - gear options, you can get back 3 MP/tic WITHOUT a perp - staff, and 6+/tic without an avatar out. I've been happy with my old Bahamut's/Fay Crozier options and never have MP problems even in Voidwatch (especially in VW with all the MP temps and Elemental Siphon). The only Magian staff I felt was near-essential on SMN was the Pet MAB one, if you don't have Mythic of course.

As someone who has also been insane and made all the perp staves, I easily get 4 mp per tic with all of my avatars out. If I had an outside source of refresh, or really min/maxed my refresh slots, I could hit 5 per tic, and 6 under 75% with that refresh grip. I would still run out of MP if I spammed moves, but with 4 I don't. I do agree though that MP is a non-issue for SMN at the moment. It's kind of a shocking turn from a few years ago where having free anything beyond Carbuncle was a dream...

EDIT: Also there is the other benefit of the perp staves in that they give -12 BP delay, so you can pretty much get away with just wearing Tiresias' Cape(What better cape is there for SMN?) and you're at cap.

I agree there are benefits. I guess I just did a cost-benefit analysis in my own head and decided against it. SMN's biggest place in endgame at the moment is Voidwatch, but the multitude of temp items makes MP a non-issue. If I were going to do one perp - staff, I feel like I'd have to do them all (which I refuse to do) because VW avatar procs span across all avatars. As for BP delay, since they did not raise the cap, I'm fine with my normal BP- delay macro pieces which get me to cap. If they ever raised the cap or allowed Magian staves to bypass the hard -15, I would absolutely work on the Magian staves.

Eh, I'm a career SMN, so it's my baby. I do pretty much everything I can to pimp it out. Sadly, this puts me miles ahead of almost every other SMN on my server who are often wearing int pieces and the like. As for the cap, I really don't know what the hell SE is doing. If you looked at the AF2+2 for SMN you'd see that you can get up to I think -23 by wearing all the pieces, which makes absolutely no sense. They have mentioned that they wanted to add an ability that would allow us to spend more MP to get around the cap, but knowing the current SE, it's going to be something retardedly unuseful and unwieldy.

I think that this is an important point, about the free anything beyond Carbuncle. If a Summoner from now stepped out of a time-bubble back in the 75 cap, every SMN would instantly shit his/her pants. Walking around with Avatars that aren't just free, that give MP back, let alone free/MP return spirits? There would probably have been riots. I look at it from that perspective, I sacrificed time (and gil once we got to the stupid geode part) to get something that people would have killed for a few years back. If people don't think that it is worth their time to do it, then so be it; but the same thing about any Relic, Mythic, and/or Empyrean. You don't need them, so therefor it is a waste to get them. Absolutely needing something isn't the point, it is a matter of having something that makes your character just a little better, even if that improvement is 1%.

Gallant's Roll must be a Phalanx. If it stacks with regular Phalanx... could see it being nice for PLD maybe. The others are still shit.

These rolls are dead on arrival without a 3rd slot. Is anyone going to give up Chaos/Tacticians/Misers for a Phalanx? a boost to pet rolls? regen? spell interruption? No.

Warlock's Roll should have been Caster's in the first place imo.

actually dont mind that its m.acc+ roll, its just that the numbers blow ¬.¬. Same can be said for the wizards roll.
and who the fuck uses choral roll!

imho nothing they will do to the rolls will change the fact that in a melee pt one roll is allways gonna be miser's. The 2. one will just be either fighters or chaos.

wouldnt mind if they buffed rogues roll tough

Didn't they nerf Rogue's/Fighter's for 'balance' already iirc?

If the MAcc+ were percents, maybe then they would be useful. I guess I am thinking like a RDM where you spells either land or never land and no amount of MAcc will ever help that. >_>

If things were given high magic eva instead of flat immunity, they might be useful. In a world where you're either capped Macc or dealing with immunities, there's no point in Warlock's roll.

Sorry it took a bit to give you this information, but as I am sure you all read, we were out for the holidays.

There have been some comments asking for other weapon skills to be adjusted so that they are stronger. We actually looked into this, but due to the very large differences in values we determined it would be difficult because of the way it would tie into the balance of power between jobs. (In the case that things stayed the way they are, the chances that future abilities and equipment would have lower stats or simply not be possible to add would become increasingly high.)

The principle behind the current weapon skill adjustment follows the same principles for the aims of why warrior has been adjusted (Restraint, etc.):

    1. Prevent becoming overpowered
    2. Establish balance between warrior and other jobs (make it easier to balance)

The below adjustments have been set up on the test server.
This is the chance of critical hit for TP100%/200%/300% respectively.

    • Ukko’s Fury
      Before adjustment: 30%/50%/80%
       ↓
      Test server version: 15%/25%/40%
    • Victory Smite
      Before adjustment: 15%/30%/60%
       ↓
      Test server version: 10%/20%/35%

Since there are other abilities and equipment to take into account, although I cannot affirm anything just yet, we would like to see if we can perhaps raise the critical hit rate a bit after looking at your feedback and development/QA testing.

We will be putting the re-adjusted data onto the test server during the first update of the New Year and would like to continue to test this.
"The Dev Team is going to nerf you, but are looking into the possibility that they are going to nerf you less so maybe you won't hate them as much. But they probably aren't. And you probably will."

Hope a lot of Japs bitch about it then, cause they sure as hell don't listen to us.

Also could use some new news rather than them playing catch-up on the week break. Still no word on them looking at the Voidwatch freezing problem?

Can anyone say those Ukko's numbers aren't ridiculous with a straight face?

MNK has some wiggle room. WAR, not so much.

I don't think anyone can make a straight face everytime SE mentions "Balance" They're never ever going to achieve balance when their formula's are more cryptic than a 5 year old that scribbles on everything with washable crayon/markers.

SE should not be allowed to ever utter that dreaded word because they have no idea what that word even means. Balance should just be "That word that shall not be named."
