It's "lolXclass" at one moment. It's "But we're only marginally better than Xclass!" another moment.

Thats why they're going back and revamping all the old content slowly so the game can come full circle again. We aren't entirely sure what its going to end up being like in about 6 months but thats about when we should see all of their test server scheduled stuff being completed...hopefully! Balance seems to be the big term to be throwing around here lately, so hopefully people calm down and realize that this was their final level cap and that proper balancing has been and will always remain something that they will be doing as more content/gear becomes available. As more things are introduced into the game, equipment, new abilities etc., things will have to be adjusted so that stuff doesn't get a bit ridiuclous. Stuff like that new crazy fuckin Askar body +5? Warriors will definitely be able to use that and its pretty much going to be the best piece to do RR/Ukkos in. I think this is their way of anticipating changes like this.
lol yeah... I always thought that your anti-abyssea sentiment was crazy, because I loved dual boxing everything, but because of the gradual nature of the changes I never noticed how far gone this game is. I remember distinctly (as I'm sure most of us do) wasting days of my life in agony on some of these CoP fights. Now you literally do not have to cast cure 1 to win. It's like the entire expansion might as well not even exist anymore. Hopefully they do something to give it relevance, even if they just double the stats on the rings and add the level caps back or something. Preferably after I get my mule through, of course...
Going the route that other MMOs indulge in by adding "Hard Mode"s onto every fight could make things interesting.
I'm not even really that anti-abyssea. Its just the fact that most of the equipment from there was the best that it could be at the time and everybody was so proud of all their stupid ass abyssea gear like it actually meant something. I was mostly just mad at how boring it was, abyssea now is kind of just whatever, its ok. I wouldn't say that abyssea changed the game and turned it into a big piece of shit. If anything its a nice crash course on game mechanics for people that are new to the game wanting to get geared properly. Its really easy but at the same time it gives people something to work towards. The game should really tell people to use some sort of wiki page honestly. lol or just not be so god damn cryptic
Abyssea = Hyperbolic Chamber
I was replying to "why was it in there for so long before it was nerfed (which I agree with)...if it were done sooner people probably wouldnt have cared as much", to which I point out the blu's fucking raged over and over about how heavy strike was getting nerfed before it even made it off the test server. So clearly the concept of when the nerf took place is irrelevant.
Still don't get it but yeah it doesn't really matter when stuff gets nerfed, people will still be butt hurt at any rate. In a game where they haven't really done a whole lot of frequent balancing its to be expected that people are going to get all pissy. Its about as retarded as the people that get mad about them releasing new shit just so their old stuff gets replaced. Like oh my god what a shocker. I thought I was going to be wearing hauby +1 on my samurai @ 99! WHAT A FUCKING OUTRAGE! GOD DAMN PROGRESSION MAKES ME SO IRATE!

Abyssea didn't change the CoP missions, raising the level cap and uncapping the battles did. When I did the Shadowlord BC when I was going through Bastok missions at level 50 that shit was as fuck, when I did it for Sandy and Windy, I soloed it at level 75. But the point is that old things are supposed to get easier as you progress, that is the whole point of progressing and that is why people raged about level caps when CoP was introduced.
BLUs raged because it looked like they would become a relevant source of damage in HNM fights that didn't feed the mob a ton of TP, then it got taken away. But how much do you think they would have raged if it had been in the game for a year and then nerfed? Not at all apparently.
People were raging about the new weaponskills before they came out and now mostly everybody is pretty cool with them. Most of them have pretty sweet applications. I just think people tend to get their hopes up really high and sometimes get really pissed off over the stuff that appears on the test server. I've pretty much learned to not get my hopes up about stuff on the test server since they frequently adjust stuff on there and have even admitted completely ignoring the player base and making their own decision based on what their testers have to say. Its whatever really. At least change is happening and we aren't all standing around comparing EXP parses still lol.
Having a spell that would be relevant on high level content and then having it fucked over is a far cry from having a weaponskill that demolishes high level content slightly rolled back to where it still demolishes high level content. Not an acceptable analogy.
What is the point of nerfing it if it's still going to demolish high level content, just slightly slower? Everyone is angry because they took the lazy route of not buffing other jobs up a little bit and instead went with nerfs.
Technically something that was never released broken in the first place shouldn't be grounds for nerf bitching. Its kind of like when you go to take a shit and it feels like you just took a massive dump, like it felt like it was tearing its way out of your asshole? Then you turn around and look in the toilet and its a small little turdlette and you're like, "oh well, I guess I was butt hurt over nothing."
Read back a page or so and you'll see my rationale, they're making it easier to incrementally and subtly increase the power of jobs that have fallen behind. Other jobs wouldn't have to be boosted a "little bit", they would need some serious revisions to their weaponskills and in some cases the overall structure of the class. Increasing every single job and their weaponskills to Ukko's Fury-like status would be pretty fucked up.
They're moving it in line with the rest of the critical hit Empyrean skills. This is not the lazy route, because WAR still needs a nerf and other jobs still need a buff. This is the "redesigning the entire game around Ukko's Fury is just a little retarded, let's do the practical thing" route.
I can't believe people are actually arguing in favor of 30%/50%/80% Ukko's Fury. You can complain about Blood Rage, because that benefits everyone, but not about this.
