How does one cancel their account, or just put it on hold? Do I just stop paying?
Been playing since 2002, and i'm just now losing my interest in this game.

Not 100% yet, but if I do, what happens if I come back? Do I have to pay for back logged months to catch up? I remember hearing something like that years ago.
Or if I come back, I just pay for that current month, and im good to go?

You just stop paying. Your character becomes inaccessible and you can't post on the OF. When you decide to play again, just pay up for the current month and you're back both in-game and on the OF. Easy.

If you never log out from the official forums, you can keep posting even if your account lapses. I was able to post more than 2 weeks after my accounts got shut off for having no Crysta. The only reason I can't post there now is I reinstalled my computer and lost that cookie that kept me logged in ^^;

You mean that you'd get charged 2 months if you let it lapse for one right? Shit happened to me a couple times when my CC information would expire, I'd reactivate and bam, double charge.

ive deactivated and reactivated my account numerous times.. and the only thing i was charged for in the past was the earlier part of the month (if i reactivated mid month) because of the way their billing cycle worked.

ive also had months where i didnt play at all and let them bill me because i didnt choose to deactivate..

..anyway as for HUD, i believe only status icons remain. i suppose they could make HP bar look more crisp but its really a non-issue next to status icons.

I've taken many breaks that lasted several months since 2005. I was never charged fees for months that I wasn't playing the game upon reactivation.

Sure SE is stupid, but it is most likely not legal to charge fees for services you never actually received or used. If someone in the history of this game has ever actually had this happen, and just accepted it, they are stupid.

My sister told me she was thinking about resubscribing to netflix. Luckily I saw this and now I know there is a chance that she can be required to pay 12 months of back pay fees for services she didn't actually have access to. I'm sure she will appreciate this warning.

SE's old billing was that if you reactivated, you got billed for the entire month you reactivated for. So if you reactivated on Feb 28th, you got billed for all of feb and then march. The only time that happened to me, I reactivated in on the day before a billing maintenance and got billed 2x the normal monthly rate. It got reversed when I called, but with having 2 accounts on the same credit card I almost didn't catch it.

If I am mistaken there may be a reactivation fee, but I could be wrong, and if so would be nothing more then 5$.. I know Blizzard has one set for there accounts which I think is silly to charge for.

There is also no late fee over payment thing, the system is a bit more friendly now on the square-enix account system cause when you pay, you pay 30 days of subscription before your next billing cycle, meaning there is no more worry of "oh I wanna reactivate but its the 29th of the month and billing is on the 31st" which has lead to me getting double billed before which I felt was a bit retarded but oh well.

Xi view has unique icons for individual barspells, and other effects that would normally share icons. If you aren't already using it, I would definitely recommend it.

Also, next on the HUD docket is obviously the radar. Or maybe moving the time info somewhere you can actually see it during combat.

I would hope that if they did HQ the icons that it would include improving them. But I am silly like that.

Definitely. I haven't played for a while so not sure who is updating it anymore but those icons are a much have IMO.

Well not a much have like Windower but it definitely feels weird playing without them once you have tried it out.

Honestly SE should just make them official.

After the december update I went 2 weeks withing re-installing them due to lazy (I'd forget until I got in game, didn't want to log out, download, log back in)

Went out to something on MNK and couldn't tell what the fuck abilities I had up, logged out right there and back in with icons reinstalled. :truestory:

I'd be happy with just a unique icon for a family of spells over the current system.

Is there any information somewhere on what format those icons are, in case we feel like being artistic and updating them ourselves? I'm aware there's .dat swap packs for that, but what if we just felt like modifying certain ones, our own way?
