I swear that Square is trying to make people use Spellcast with the gear that they are releasing now.
And that is the other problem. The drop rares on VW crap is so low that even people who want to get the highly-situational mage gear just give up.

That's sort of what I meant, but didn't say. I do Gwynn or Caelano when I can for my mule because I want to cure so fast SC doesn't even work.
For what job? Whm can easily cap cure casting time without any VW drops.
But it takes a half-second for the XI server to even put your equipment changes to the formula it uses for said spells....
I thought that was debunked ages ago.
It's easily tested with a 0-delay chakra macro. I've never put a delay in for chakra and never had any issues getting all of my equipment changes to go through fine.
The real problem with SC and spells at very high speeds is trying to use both precast and midcast without SC garbling the equip commands and meshing the sets, or not getting the midcast set on fast enough for it to work.
Yeah, on fast spells, I don't do a midcast. I just do a precast (like with stun, flash, or barspells). I only do midcast with spells that take longer than a couple seconds to cast. But that's ok, since the only reason to do precast -> midcast is for fastcast gear before potency gear, and if the spell only takes a second to cast, then you don't really need the fastcast gear to begin with. Except for recast times, where you'll have to do the best you can combining recast-reducing gear with potency gear.
But as a rule, as long as FFXI receives your equip command before it receives your command to use the spell or ability, it should work.
Is there a way to alter the speed of midcast? Like is it that hard to make it so that your SC midcasts like 0.1s after the precast instead of like randomly 1-2 seconds into the cast? I love casting every spell at 15% on RDM but if I do, I usually don't get the potency :/
<midcastdelay delay="numberofseconds" />
Edit: Nvm; the answer is no unless you use <command>
EX:
<if spell="Blah">
<equip when="precast" set="blah" />
<command when="precast">wait 0.2;input /sc set "Blah"</command>
</if>
Problem is that command will activate even if you cancel the spell and will ignore all locks. Also makes stacking sets (Set1|Set2|Set3) a pain in the ass the handle.
From the plain old windower macro end, I've also found waits under 0.7 seconds to be spotty in getting swaps done. Laggy areas can further complicate things.
Good news everyone!

I'm curious as to what type of gear they pump out. New gear like Nyzul or just upgrades (Synergy I assume).
Are you truly excited about having to kill U/O just to likely do whatever Neo version they put out? >.>
If they actually make new limbus areas, sure!
Did SE just tell us in a roundabout way to "suck less"?• Difficulty
Since this battle content is for high level players, the difficulty is pretty high but that doesn't mean that it is impossible to conquer. It can be conquered by giving some thought to your battle tactics so please keep on trying to find the best path.
(The battle concept differs depending on the battle field and the key is to change tactics depending on the behavior of the 3 monsters that spawn simultaneously.)
Hmm so new legion items become buyable by winning legion chambers? So anyone with 3 chamber clears check the npc for new items to buy?
Seems more like they put AV-style tricks to some of the mobs, and since they're not figured out, yeah, suck less. Some things it looks like players had picked up on, like Behemoth and dispelling its spikes. Others don't seem as obvious if tricks exist.
