I'm tickled to see that SE have highlighted the exp gained as a concern. Iirc there isn't even a FoV book in the area to abuse this with.

When did chigoe give XP to begin with after the nerfing years ago when RMT were abusing it in ToA-era?
Chigoe always gave xp (EP+) if you killed it via no crits (unless the crit hit dealt more than enough damage to kill it) or a WS that did enough damage to kill it. The RMT nerf was to how many pets a mob can pop, since people would feed a marid tons of TP to have it shit out non stop chigoes.
Wait, this issue is that people are AFK farming Breeze Geodes with SMN pets, and people are upset that Square is doing something about this?
Yeah, I don't see why anyone would be surprised about them fixing something that's a legitimate exploit.
Because it's totally cool to pay 40k a Garudite when almost all of the other ones are going for 1k. Oh wait, no it isn't.
Seems more like a strategy than an exploit. As mentioned earlier, SMN complained about pets auto-attacking in separate instances and SE failed to give a fuck then. Now that their laziness and "Play better" attitude has come to kick them in the ass, they're complaining. So yes, people are surprised.
I am highly dissapointed in myself for not thinking to get my 1000 garudites i need from this sooner. Brb getting myself temp banned.
But it is still a quite obvious exploit. If someone asked me if they should do this a week ago, I would have said "no, it sounds like the kind of shit that would get you banned if square's collective vag is feeling extra sandy today."
Unless there are a thousand summoners AFKing next to a thousand chigoes, I doubt that this is going to do enough to budge Garudite prices because demand is so crazy right now. Not to mention that unless they raised the levels of the Chigoes in Grauberg (S), they aren't high enough to drop Avatarites.
Square doesn't like people doing things in game if they are AFK. If you don't have to put any effort into something, I can guarantee that Square is going to consider it an exploit. This is just par for the course for them.
It's clear that they don't like the idea. What is surprising is that mechanics they deemed permissible are now impermissible because the context varied. In any context, Salvage dupes would be impermissible. In any context, the wall of justice would be impermissible. In any context, fish botting is impermissible. In any context, flee hacking is impermissible. In any context, robot pinning is impermissible. This is one of the few times that we see permissible mechanics becoming impermissible because of the context in which said mechanic operates. If, in any context, pet auto-attacking were impermissible, the issue would have been resolved when SMN complained about goldfish(?) a while back.
its SE what do you expect, they will:
1. Do nothing and just monitor the grauberg zone (this most likely, but I doubt they monitor the zone)
2. make all chigoes not aggro (i could see this happen)
3. make avatars not any more auto-attack (highly unlike)
4. nerf SMN so that any avatar isnt free anymore no matter how much -perpetuation and refresh+ gear you load on (this sounds like the way SE would go)
in any case, SE shits on themself, they refused to fix/change the avatar auto-attack feature when it was demanded by the players and now its biteing them back... This is so retarded.
But it isn't about the pet auto-attacking, it is about people going AFK and getting rewarded for doing so. It's like back when you could go on a hill and use ranged attacks to pick off mobs and they couldn't pathfind a way to get you. You are using a permissible mechanic (ranged attacks) to do something that they deem to be impermissible. (Attack a mob that cannot attack you back.) All I know is that SMN is going to get screwed because of this.
This. I'm not so much complaining about it, since I don't even play, but I just find it fucking hilarious that as soon as some mechanic people have bitched about and they refused to fix since "it's working as intended" suddenly starts being abused in a way that they didn't predict (I honestly don't see how they didn't see this even coming, it's not like this is new,) and they suddenly start caring.
Why are Garudite's so expensive? Isn't STR Weapon better than AGI for all the job's on those trials?
rather than hamfistedly trying to mess with aggro mechanics and getting tangled in spaghetti code they should hand out a couple suspensions and add avatarites to a NPC for like, 10k. more than everything other than garudite but cheap enough that nobody is willing to risk their character for it.
