It actually IS a nerf of sorts. As Kaisha said, it is a central mechanic by which SMN's can solo tough stuff. It depends on going farther than 30 yalm range, summoning, and not having to wait till the mob is in range of Assault since the avatar will automatically path back to the mob.
I doubt they'll remove the auto-attack feature. It's such a core SMN mechanic. There's lots of easier ways to fix the situation.
well, SE will say they are helping SMNs, since now they can run around in sea with pets out and not aggro the goldfish
not really a valid point. pretty sure they can do it fine on lycopodium already
10$ they make it so you need to perform an action on a mob before it will drop anything.
They could just despawn chigoes during wind weather effects.
Eh, should just give avatars a 10 minute depop timer unless you use Assault, then it can add a couple minutes or so each time. Eventually you'll get an angry chigoe or two munching on the AFK SMN.
No offense bro, but casting Carbuncle, running away, casting Carbuncle, running away, casting Carbuncle, running away, on one mob for 2 hours, is hardly "excelling at soloing". Its even less skillful than rdm bio/poison DoT, since SMN actually never has to be in harms way, nor count DoT timers.
You obviously don't know how a SMN solos.
The advantage of avatars auto attack instinct is that it lets the SMN stay out of harms way when the avatar engages the mob again. This is useful parly because SMN def is like paper and also cos assault range isnt that great. Done properly, the act of avatar attacking draws hate from the mob chasing the SMN, keeping him out of harms way.
Simply resummoning carby is carby kiting, and you'd typically only do that soloing bombs (ie to say, not anymore). Standard avatar kiting these days involves BP as well.
If you've ever had a SMN help you clear Golden Salvage you should already know its the same mechanic at work
Besides, skill is hardly a relevant factor to this discussion. Changing that would still change a core mechanic in the way SMN is played, especially solo.
Lol, ok.
SMN "soloing" is already trash compared to other jobs. And this would have no fucking impact on anything that actually matters. (aka: not soloing)
What's next, are you going to complain that you never want to have to cast a cure spell, and that you wish you were the best dd in the game?
Next Six Months of Development
At a glance it looks like, "wow they're adding a lot of new stuff!"
...then you read it. Disappointingly small amount of new content mixed in with a bunch of shit that barely matters and only 1 new avatar and a couple of jobs receiving adjustments. Hopefully not all we have to look forward to in the next 6 months.
Play as a monster and additional UI log windows o.O. Yeah is not super heavy but theres still something at vanafest at least? lol
Wow...it's terrible and lacking any real meat. This dungeon crawl thing seems to be the highlight.
Of course Limbus renewal, Einherjar renewal, and new dungeon crawl system were all on the last road map as well....
Spoiler: show
To be completely fair, that was for the test server. This road map is for the main game. Still....
And its almost May and we've still not seen them even put on the test server, while the dungeon crawl system was due there in Feb?
its ok though, SE is adjusting Boost, thank Tanaka for that
At least a careful consideration of the words chosen, where they say Limbus, Einherjar, and Salvage EXPANSIONS, would indicate that we will be seeing not only new Limbus wings, but also new Einherjar chambers and even new Salvage remnants areas. To me, that's a lot more exciting than something like the Dynamis overhaul which basically just repurposed a reservation area as a non-reserved zone with a handful of new mobs tossed in for good measure. Well, not so much the einherjar one since there's only so much you can do with the mobs -> mobs -> boss layout, but Salvage in particular since each of the old zones had its own unique quirks, mob types, cell drop patterns, etc., etc. It was a pretty well thought-out event, so it'd be nice if there were new Remnants areas complete with their own layouts and oddities. Just no more ramparts like Bhaflau, plz.
That "play-as-a-monster" system had better just be for fun, though... that doesn't sound like something I'd want good gear locked behind.
