I like the idea of temp items that weaken VNM's. It mite make some of the higher tier ones doable without a full alliance.
The way they have set up the ticket system.. not so much. I GUARANTEE that the only way your going to be getting tickets from other people is by paying for them. Nobody is that cool anymore to just help people out.
It's like they didn't understand at all why people wanted a ticket system. With the way they planned it you'll still end up killing 600+ of the same mob to get what you wanted and odds are you'll get the body drop before you get 3/3 tickets anyway or it's not the rare drop you wanted in the first place anyway and you're just being fucked over by the random number generator. Yay.
How hard could it be to just make tickets for each NM instead of a piece of gear so for example we could have Kaggen tickets to convert the Mantis Eyes/Phasmida Belts into a Mekira body or the Mekira bodies into a Phasmida Belt (srsly, there's a guy in my LS who's trashed 6 or 7 mekira bodies and not seen a belt). Or even better, tickets for each VW path, so you could collect Zilart tickets or Jeuno tickets or City tickets and then trade them in for what you wanted and it would be better for all because then you could go help friends on different NMs and everyone had a chance to get something.
Next time the playerbase suggests how to improve an event, we need to diagram it out for them so they don't fuck it up as badly as this.
Then again, we diagrammed out king changes and the end result was that Black Belts are harder than ever to get.
Just pointing this out again...
Abyssea era
Playerbase: Theres massive congestion at NM pops, is there anything you can do?
SE: We've reduced the respawn timer of the ???'s to 1 minute
Playerbase: Its a good start, but theres still plenty of DNC soloists and MNK+WHM duos who spend 20-30 minutes fighting a NM, completely locking everyone out.
SE: we have created two additional ??? marks for all top tier NM's
Playerbase: The repop timer of timed NM's is ridiculously long, considering stones are supposed to be worth 30 minutes at base.
SE: We've reduced the repop timer of timed NM's from 30-60 minutes to 10-15 minutes
Cool, thx!
VW Era
*announcement and discovery of relic/mytic 99 trial*
Playerbase: So after 10 trials of grinding out WS kills and teamup NM kills and what not, you then want us to kill ADL 20 (I think it was 20) fucking times PER relic weapon? Are you fucking insane? Do you realize how long that will take PER weapon, on top of the fact you're going to need insane amounts of teamups?
SE: deal with it
Playerbase: No, you're fucking nuts, I'd like to accomplish shit in this game BEFORE i retire from my fucking job
SE: okok, we'll drop it to 10, deal with it
Playerbase: Cool, so I can accomplish shit in this game before I turn 40, awesome!
SE: Fuck, fine, we'll drop it to 5.
Playerbase: Its still a fucking luck based fight, do something
SE: no
Playerbase: I'm 0/300+ on a drop from VW, yet my mule has received THREE of the same drop in 50 kills.
SE: Working as intended
Playerbase: No this isnt fucking working, your individual loot pool looks great on paper, but in practice its fucking stupid, it makes no sense that r/e items should be trashed.
SE: Working as intended
Playerbase: You're going to lose majority of your playerbase if you dont resolve this garbage
SE: Ok ok, we'll add a ticket system, where if you get a r/e item that you own, you will receive a ticket in place to give to someone else so they can trade for the item, they'll need a good amount of tickets though.
Playerbase: Thats not at all gonna fix the problem, but lets see what you can do with this
*10 months later*
SE: Ok we're ready to unveil the ticket system, we've decided to make the tickets EX, and you'll need 3, and they have to be picked up at the time the mob is killed, and you cant mix and match.
Playerbase: ........what the fuck
ABYSSEA KILLED FFXI
Abyssea was making them money, of course they'd make it more appealing so people would chuff out the $30 for it all.
So you're saying if i Paid 10$ For Voidwatch, They could have made it not suck ass? I'd take that.
Anyway, Making my joke aside... FFXI is making them money too, month-to-month, And they're killing it the best they can right now, seemingly oblivious to how their actions effect their subscription rate. I wonder sometimes how many posters here on BG Still actually play FFXI?
(psst: i know you're not defending it- )
$10 for VW? Surely you jest, it'd be $10 per chapter, plus $10 for PW.
I don't even like VW, its such a shitty event for such decent gear.
Isn't this kinda of what the tickets are supposed to solve? I thought the complaints on the OF was that certain peoples mules or shellmates kept getting the same items. If the tickets can be given away at the time of the drop, it should work out. Unless you always go with a PUG or your friends are dicks.
We need to be more Genre Savvy and accept how our requests are going to turn out.
Theres so many flaws...and while yes has a chance to solve "My mule has gotten 3 bodies and I still havent seen it", it creates a new problem of you finally getting the body when you have 2/3 tickets, and now are stuck with 2 tickets that could have gone to someone else if they werent EX, doesnt solve the problem that people with bodies still have no motivation to redo shit they have (if the tickets werent EX and they could sell them, I could foresee some motivation).
FoV tabs and GoV prowess Adjustments
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...826#post315826Greetings!
In response to a number of different ideas that we have been seeing in regards to other applications and usages for FoV tabs and GoV prowess, I’d like to share some feedback from the development team.
We would like players to use tabs and prowess to improve the user-friendliness of FoV/GoV, so any suggestions aimed toward this goal are easier to look into. (Conversely, changes that will greatly alter the specs for Fields of Valor tabs and prowess are much more difficult to implement.)
Based on this, here are some comments to suggestions we have come across:
New Enhancements/Field Support Food Items
This would depend on the desired effects, but we can definitely look into implementing these. Please provide specific feedback on what kinds of effects are desired, so we can look into this deeper.
Ability to Select Prowess Effects
If we allow this, we are afraid only a select few prowess effects will be used. As such, we are concerned that it would become mandatory to consume Field of Valor
tabs to select specific prowess effects.
Warp to Different Ground Tomes
Depending on the area, it may be possible that players can warp to take short cuts or enter areas they should not be in at their current level. We will have to look into this carefully. Also, we cannot just allow warping to specific areas/Ground Tomes, so this function would have to be implemented separately from FoV/GoV.
Obtaining Temporary Items
This is included in the Treasure Casket, so please use that instead.
Trade for Beastmen Seals or Gear
Beastmen Seals are not relevant to this content, so we would like players to obtain them through the current methods.
Regarding gear, similarly to temporary items, we would like players to obtain them through the Treasure Caskets.
When I read that, I only thought "They sure spent a lot of time telling us "no"".
Please feel free to give us feedback on what you want, bear in mind anything relotely useful will be told no...
Tho the shit about getting seals WAS dumb. They should let u use tabs on prowess, nothing like getting mab/macc on your thf/dnc, and crystal discovery when you dont even have signet on.
In PUGs they definitely won't, agreed. In LS's though, mobs are redone all the time for various reasons. Granted, getting people to use stones is another issue. But shells can create incentives, and there are plenty of people who don't ride their stone timer sitting on craploads of stones.
As for the waste of 2/3 tickets, I agree it can lead to an absurd result, but I doubt there will be many people complaining if the overall rate of item attainment increases.
Lets assume half of the alliance would lot every slip and a third of the alliance already has the rare drop but does the monster anyway for some reason and is capable of making slips. The last three guys just came to hang out. Assuming everyone has a 1% drop rate on the item, which might be generous for the items they're talking about, your odds of getting a slip each run as a random lotter are 0.67%.
This is kind of complicated probability and I've never had a real class in it, but I think your odds of completing a piece with slips is equal to:
(Odds of not getting the armor)^(N)*(Odds of getting a Slip)^3*(Odds of not getting a Slip)^(N-3)*(N!)/( (3!)*(N-3)! )
The odds of completing a piece through slips first is almost 1% after 100 runs with the setup above. I have total faith that I will never meet someone that completes a piece through slips unless they make an LS to do the monster for them, are in a points LS, etc. Amusingly, though, this does make it somewhat possible to sell Voidwatch drops. Take 17 people that already have the drop along with one guy that doesn't and the odds you'll sell him 3 slips before he gets the drop on his own are about 20% after 14 kills.
You'd have to charge out the ass to make that worth both the time and gil investment.
After 14 fights, you'd have spent 5.95M in stones and used anywhere from 60-120m (more if you really suck).
If I take an average of 3 events in terms of gil/h and use that as a baseline, it would look like this:
T6+ for cruor/plates/cinder/dross: 16000/fight | 12 fights/1h | 422400g + any number of cinder/dross/plates (assume 1 plate, a few scrolls, etc, for ~180k)|
624,000g/h
Cruor burn party: 200-250k cruor/h = 440,000-550000
440,000g/h
Farming sky: (assuming windows are open/3hours work) 1,800,000g for full set
600,000g/h
So for an average of 550,000g/h easily farmed by anyone who has the desire to farm gil, in order to sell that item to someone via slip and for it to be worthwhile, you would need to charge them 15,300,000G and an additional 15,300,000G every additional hour.
And that's just to make it as profitable as doing literally anything else.
FFXI is a decent-good game which could be a great game if not for the sheer rigidity and uncompromising nature of its development team.
