    Have they shown it's going to be RNF? I always thought it might be RUN.

    If someone knows the dat that contains the text strings for jobs when you use the likes of /search, might have our answer on the test server files.

    They're not in there yet, still listed as "555" and "666" (File is 1-165-87) which is the same as the real server.

    RNF just seems to fit better just like it's SMN and not SUM. RUN really could be applied to tons of words while it's hard to mistake RNF for something else.

    No, because clearly putting things like Overload or puppet weaponskills into the autotranslate back at ToAU time was too much work. We do not want to over tax them.

    That one has been in polutils for a while (String Tables > Common > Job Names(Short)) - if you know where to look, almost everything except armor images/animations can be found through the menus.

    Weapon Sheaths

    Good morning!

    One thing we have seen players asking about is whether it would be possible to add weapon sheaths. From a technical standpoint, weapons make the same movements that a sheath would make, so it would be possible to add a skin over each weapon; however, depending on the weapon some of the animations may look a bit strange.

    The problem is that adding a sheath model for every single weapon would take a considerable amount of work and it is just not possible to address all of the existing weapons.

    In the future, however, we’d like to try to use the opportunity when new, unique weapons are added to design sheaths. With that said, as it’s not possible to do immediately, please look forward to it as a future possibility.

    Option #2 was the most popular but the number of votes compared to the other two candidates was not a huge difference.

    Upcoming Adjustments to Walk of Echoes

    Greetings!

    I just wanted to take a moment to update you all on the status of some things we are planning for Walk of Echoes.

    As previously mentioned, we have been working on bonus walks, which were planned for implementation around summer, but they have been taking a bit of time to finalize. Apologies for the wait, but we estimate that we can get these implemented onto the test server with the update next month.

    Also, further down the line we are thinking to make some adjustments to the Walk of Echoes system itself. We are still at the planning phase for this; however, we’d like to really make use of the special traits of Walk of Echoes and turn it into a sort of playground that offers a lot of variety and rewards.

    This will take a bit of time before we can implement it since we are working on new content additions and existing content adjustments, but once we get more information we will be sure to update you all .

    Fellowship Bond Adjustments

    Hey everyone!

    Just a quick update on adventuring fellow bonds!

    The Development Team is currently testing and looking into what would be the best way to improve the rate in which your bond with your adventuring fellow increases. As long as everything goes smoothly, we should be able to implement it during the next version update.

    The only sheathes that are in the game work for Elvaan M and Hume M GKT. The reason for this is that the sword/club skeleton bone is animated to ACT like a sheathe (possibly due to early dev or some NPCs having sheathes) but even then not every animation works with the sheathe. Beyond modifying every animation for weapons, they'd have to edit all of the emotes and other things just to incorporate sheathes.

    As for ranged weapons on back, im not entirely sure, I only ever (not really) messed with it a little bit and there is a call that hides certain weapons etc (for instance when you dance/cast your weapons disappear, this is that call in action, if you can confuse/overload so it doesnt do the call, you'll sometimes dance with weapons out). I totally photoshopped this picture

    Which shows (if it werent a blatant photoshop) that animations can be edited to have the weapon on back, but I dont think I (totally dont know what im talking about) took out the correct hide weapon call, so its probably possible. But again if this were to happen, an entire animation overhaul would be in order (although it would probably be much easier than sheathes).

    Is this beyond the FFXI team? No. Is it beyond what I think they would be willing to put forth this far into the game? Yeah, probably.

    I think you'd be better off Poll-ing the return of /kiss, which was advertised in a POL email post card, but was never in the game.

    (all that being said there are bones on the skeleton that the normal weapon bones are mothered to that follow a similar but not exact motion of the weapons, those might be able to be used, but still would need an overhaul of animations)

    RNF looks garbled and ugly and every time I see someone use it I think it's an initialism for something else.

    I'm predicting RNE but FNC would be fine too.

    im guessing RNF cos for older jobs with 2 word names, what they'll do is take the first letter of the two words to form the first and last letter, and the 2nd letter is the first non-vowel found in the first word.

    WHite Mage -> WHM
    BLack Mage -> BLM
    ReD Mage -> RDM
    DaRk Knight -> DRK

    Blue Mage is special because if they followed that logic, it'd be the same as BLM, so they opted for BLU.

    well, thats what I think anyway.

    It'll be a feature in the new xpac, you know it be true. You'll have to buy access to it similar to how you buy access to locker from ToA, using some new xpac-town specific currency.
