Rocl you're the only one who understands my retarded humor.
Spoiler: show
Somewhere in Arrapago Remnants there's the shattered remains of my sanity and soul.
Another day, a lot of info:
Job Concept Manifesto follow-up: Scholar
As I said above, thanks for all the opinions thus far! We again spoke with the supervisor in charge of the upcoming changes and had him take a look. Once again, please understand that we cannot answer all of your questions in a single post, and some answers may be vague, because this is all content that is still under development.
Scholar has a lot of job abilities, so we will have to provide multiple responses. The current plan is to post responses about stratagems tomorrow.
Job Abilities
I would like the effects of “Light Arts/Dark Arts” to increase proportionately to your level.
We plan on making this adjustment. We would like players that play scholar as their main job to receive more benefits than those utilizing it as a support job.
I want to be able to look up the enemy’s stats, weaknesses and amount of TP it has using "Libra."
We are working on this, but we are unsure whether we will change the effects of "Libra," or use a different method. It is possible that we will use an ability other than "Libra."
I am very worried that with the upcoming changes scholar’s spells cannot be landed easily when fighting against HNMs.
We don’t have plans on making it so that it will be impossible to land spells. However, rather than adjusting the rate that spells are resisted, the occurrence of enfeebling effects and the duration of the effects will fluctuate.
For Storm-related spells, I would like additional effects related to element to be added in addition to obtaining weather effects.
We will look into adding this as an additional effect for “Stormsurge” when we rework merit points.
What new spells are you thinking about adding for Tabula Rasa?
We got some data about the planned spells!
Brave
Target: Single (Can be made AoE through the use of stratagems)
Effect: Regen + Regain + Haste (Values/duration are under development)
Usage Level: 5~ (Under the effects of Tabula Rasa only)
Skill Type: Enhancing Magic
Merton
Target: Single (Can be made AoE through the use of stratagems)
Effect: Damage + Damage over Time (DoT effect depends on the initial damage)
Usage Level: 5~ (Under the effects of Tabula Rasa only)
Skill Type: Dark Magic
And WoE changes:Job Concept Manifesto follow-up: Samurai
Seems like other jobs had threads dedicated specifically to them, but I couldn't find one for Samurai, so I'll put this here... First off, thanks for all the opinions thus far, and we wanted to let you know that we passed them to the supervisor in charge of the upcoming changes and had him take a look.
Please understand that we cannot answer all of your questions in one post and some answers may be vague, because this is all content that is still under development.
Please bear with us as we will continue posting about this and other jobs!
I want an ability that will reduce the TP cost for the next WS to 0.
That's an interesting idea!
However, this may be a little too powerful, so I'll look into it with balance in mind.
I want an ability like “Tactician’s Roll” that provides TP regain to party members.
This ability may be possible if it consumes your TP like “Shikikoyo” does. I will look into this.
I would like the damage for auto-attack or weapon skills in general increased.
Since we are working towards “providing balanced damage while taking advantage of the skills and the amount of WSs,” this will be difficult to implement. I will look into this carefully, because increasing damage even in the slightest way may greatly increase the total output that’s possible.
I would like an ability that automatically triggers stun when the enemy uses an ability or WS.
We are not looking into an ability that could automatically trigger stun, because this will make the skill level of the player obsolete.
I would like the requirements removed for the "ability that increases accuracy and damage of weapon skills” and the “ability that augments the next weapon skill used with a TP bonus” so that they can be used at any time.
The "ability that increases accuracy and damage of weapon skills” is just an example, so it is possible that the requirements will be altered before being finalized.
As long as the effects for the “ability that augments the next weapon skill used with a TP bonus” are active, you can use a WS at any time to receive the TP bonus.
I don’t want the two example abilities in the manifesto to share the same recast timer with existing abilities.
Don’t worry, they will have separate recast timers.
I would like both of the example abilities in the manifesto to be job traits.
Currently, we are working on implementing these as abilities.
I would like the damage the enemy inflicts to be reduced drastically, or be invulnerable to status effects while the effects of the "ability that increases accuracy and damage of weapon skills” are active.
I really like the idea of the damage the enemy inflicts being reduced if you complete a weapon skill during the enemy’s ability/weapon skill. However, if you are invulnerable to damage and status effects, you will be practically invincible, so something like this will be very difficult to implement.
Once again a bit more information in response to some concerns and other questions that have popped up…
If the group system is similar to the Campaign system style, will this mean that AoE enhancements will affect players outside of the caster’s main party (ex: blood pacts, accession, etc.)?
Yep! This will be possible.
You mentioned that after the adjustments, depending on the ending evaluation the number of rewards inside the treasure casket will increase, but if the number increases based on a hidden ranking value this is pretty detrimental. (I want the hidden ranking value to be eliminated.)
The evaluation is not a “compared to others”-type of evaluation, it is a fixed point evaluation system. We are planning to make it so you can increase the number of rewards if you surpass a specific amount of evaluation points.
As a side note, we will be adjusting the enmity system so that there will be less of a chance that a monster will come running towards you in the same spot that you just defeated a monster, we will also be adding a warning message.
Besides all of the things we have outlined thus far, there will be no other changes to the Walk of Echoes system. With that said, as some have been concerned about this, sacking monsters with a separate party will still be a viable strategy.
If Brave's regain is potent enough (talking 10tp/tic+), I can see it being popular when used in addition to Perfect Defense, but those are both extremely situational.
WoE adjustments are nice. Some of the questions people asked for SAM make me major /facepalm though.
I would like Samurai to become invincible at all times, that is all.
Over 2 tp/tic for Brave would be pretty ridiculously OP, thats +120 TP/m to party members. I'm predicting 1 tp/tic with some piece of gear that bumps it up to 2 tp/tic, probably from voidwatch or WoE.
You can only cast it while Tabula Rasa (SCH 2hr) is up.
Anything but OP would render it useless for me as Tabula Rasa is just a gimp combo of RDM&BLM 2hr for how I use it.
If you get it at level 5, perhaps they should make it so potency increases with level...say every 10 levels, they increase 1 tic. At 95, Haste + 10 tp/tic + regen (not sure how this would work out...maybe +10 hp/tic every 10 levels?)
Ditto for Mertron's overall strength.
Incoming SCH rotations at zergs.
I have to agree. Anything less than 5 TP is not going to increase the SCH usage. With the 2H crowd, they really wouldn't gain anything from it as 5-6 hits will get them 100% before they accumulated 17-20% from the regain. For the DW crowd, with proper haste and marches this would be a pretty significant boost allowing them to TP a few seconds sooner. Though I could see this potentially being used to build TP before a BC fight where you cannot get TP otherwise (minus opo neck+sleep). It'll also depend on how long the bonus lasts. Also will it be a single buff or add 3 different buffs? If it's a single "Brave" buff, will it stack with Haste and Regen WHM spells or could a WHM mistakenly casting either of those over-write it (Think Warcry and Blood Rage). Will it be able to be cast multiple times under the effect of Tabula Rasa where the SCH can jump between all 3 different parties in the alliance and cast it on all groups?
I think it's a little too early to get excited. On paper it sounds great, but knowing what SE can and has done in the past I wouldn't be surprised to find this as useful as Familiar or when DRG's 2H was Call Wyvern.![]()
Does anyone else find it funny/annoying how all the "questions" are just "Give me this" or "Do this", like, they're just rudely insisting that SE do what they ask?
The more annoying part is when they respond with "We'll look into this" or "We'll consider this" to retarded suggestions. -_- With the old dev team, that just means lolno, but with this new one, who knows.
I know I'm slowpoking to this conversation, but is SE really that dumb when it comes to adding things worth stealing to monsters? They're worried about stealing and hiding, but adding things worthwhile to things that can't be hid off is out because of the former? Why not add things worth stealing to NMs that can be stolen at a decent rate if adding things to normal monsters out of the question? It always disappointed me with THF being my favorite job, that steal was such a borderline useless ability; not only because of the quality of stolen items, but because of the failure rate as well.
"The evaluation is not a “compared to others”-type of evaluation, it is a fixed point evaluation system. We are planning to make it so you can increase the number of rewards if you surpass a specific amount of evaluation points."
This makes so much more sense than the way we were previously interpreting this. If I'm reading this correctly, everyone (not just the top five) will get their own individual loot, and what's in the crate will be performance-based.
