This is why I am absolutely terrified for Empyrean Weapons for the 95 cap. The upgrade items are either going to come from Voidwatch or (much less likely) WoE. "Hey there WHM, you're going to get the item to upgrade Great Katana; hey there Empyrean Great Katana holder, you get a bag of herb seeds. Congratulations!"
I think the problem with WoE is that they never really knew what to do with it from the start. They wanted a Campaign-like system, but end-game-type events need the type of logistics that a bunch of strangers who all showed up just cannot possess. Walk of Echoes requires a lot of coordination, people need to kite/sack mobs (fuck your reward), you need tanks (and they need healers so fuck the healer's rewards), you need support jobs (so super fuck their rewards too); a bunch of random people who just show up aren't going to follow orders or have the right jobs to get things done. So then people would go with their linkshells, and a bunch of leaches would show up and just fuck shit up; "I'm going to come in and solo mobs, sure this doesn't help to win, but this is how this event works!"
I've only done Walk of Echos a few times, but it seems like there is always someone there waiting for you to go in so they can shit up your event. If it was supposed to be for random people to all go in and fight shit, they made it far too complicated and difficult; if it was supposed to be for linkshells to go in and deal with like a regular end-game event, they shouldn't have let other people enter. WoE just couldn't decide what it is supposed to be, and because of that it is going to have a hard time gaining traction with the community even if these changes aren't as detrimental as they appear to be.
I think one main issue is their stubborn refusal to instance endgame events. Probably because of server costs or who knows. They want to not have to instance it, AND have no issues with areas being occupied. But they just need to admit when a superior idea is a superior idea.
Ranger Adjustments
Time for some ranger love! Remember, keep the feedback and comments coming, and we'll do our best to address it!
The distance correction functionality of ranged attacks greatly affects rangers, and based on the opinions of players, we understand that some kind of adjustment is necessary.I want the ranged attack distance correction functionality to be removed.
With that said, simply removing the distance correction functionality will not solve every problem, so we are working on adjusting the system to be more positive.
We will look into this as part of the adjustments stated above.Even if the distance correction functionality can’t be removed, I at least want the range of the “sweet spot” to be increased.
This will make it extremely easy to dominate worm type monsters, so we have no plans of extending the range of ranged attacks.I want the range of ranged attacks to be farther than spells.
We will look into some kind of adjustment.Blast Arrow is commonly used as a close range WS, so it shouldn’t be affected by distance correction functionality.
It is pretty heartbreaking when you misfire, isn’t it? This is a problem that occurs frequently for rangers that keep their distance in battles, so we will look into devising a solution.I don’t like that TP is consumed even if a WS is not successful because it is out of range.
This is part of the distance correction, but we are looking into lowering hate when using ranged attacks from the enemy’s sides or rear. Also, some ranged attack weapon skills have effects related to hate, which will also be taken into consideration.I would like hate to decrease proportionately to your distance from the enemy.
This ability will last around 3 minutes, and effects will take place for every ranged attack during this time. We do not plan on implementing a long recast time. How long will the "ability that increases enmity towards party members positioned between the ranger and his/her target" last?
We are currently debating how the effects of Subtle Blow will be implemented. We are also working on adjustments for sweet spots and ranged attacks, so all of this will be decided in a balanced way. Either way, Subtle Blow will be applied with abilities, rather than as a constant job trait.I would like the effects of Subtle Blow to take place regardless of distance.
Eagle Eye Shot has the advantage of having high accuracy, but we are looking into adding additional benefits. We think it will be best if we can add some kind of benefits other than simply yielding high damage.I would like Eagle Eye Shot to be reevaluated. It is a big gamble, but as you reach higher levels, it sometimes yields less damage than weapon skills.
We currently have no plans of adding an ability that resets hate for ranger. We suggest forming a party with a job that can control hate, such as thief, to get around this issue.I would like a hate reset effect to be added to Camouflage.
This will be very difficult, since Snapshot is a trait that can be enhanced to further reduces the time in between ranged attacks, and these two would become very similar.I would like Rapid Shot to be activated every time.
We would like to look into this when reviewing merit points, but we think that the effects of Stealth Shot are sufficient as is, so this is pretty unlikely.I would like the recast time for Stealth Shot to be lowered.
So if I'm reading that right, they're giving RNG a trick attack that lasts three minutes that's going to have a short recast? ~_~
Waiting for THF's to rage about the trick attack ability. However, if it's only a small percentage over the 3 minutes I don't see how it would be a bad thing.
Yes, for the love of god fix this. It's about as retarded as the old times on SMN where you'd lose BP because your pet was out of range. It is pretty heartbreaking when you misfire, isn’t it? This is a problem that occurs frequently for rangers that keep their distance in battles, so we will look into devising a solution.
Who asked these questions lol.
Really? Blast Arrow questions? The bit about dominating worm-type mobs is also funny.
Looks like the RNG TA will be something you can keep up which bodes well for my plans to get melee killed with enmity spikes.
I agree, it looks like Voidwatch will be the new 'in' thing to do come next patch and the reward system is going to send people into convulsions. Not only is the "everyone is a winner... er loser" system annoying when others get the item you want but have no way of transferring those R/EX items. The synth mats you get for winning stuff like Hahava is just /facepalm.Originally Posted by Septimus
Yeah, I know SE designed it as such to prevent individuals from selling items or from linkshell leads controlling the lootpools but seriously SE? Did the concept of a point system completely escape you? Instead we get a roulette wheel where even if the item drops you'd best hope you are the lucky bastard or at least the people running with you are honest.
Point systems SE. Point-freakin-systems.
True. We got Vision of Abyssea and WoE at the same time and from launch WoE was a disjointed mess. There is no storyline reason for it existing, no reason for the monsters, no goals, no strategy and it boils down to just smashing mobs for drops that appeared from nowhere. I thought ANNMs were bad but WoE takes the cake.I think the problem with WoE is that they never really knew what to do with it from the start. They wanted a Campaign-like system, but end-game-type events need the type of logistics that a bunch of strangers who all showed up just cannot possess. Flash forward to post-Abyssea and you have an event that is continuing a tradition of failure by being not only harder to access but barring individuals from getting the Emp-1s. If this event is going to have a JP midnight cooldown without more monsters per chamber then mobs are going to have piss coins in order for it to be worth taking a group. You get nothing for failing it so the stakes are even higher for the pick-up groups that attempt it. It boils down to:
Why do this crap when I can do Abyssea?
And with that Id best complete my coins before this event becomes even more awkward to wade through.
I'll be the first to say Bounty Shot is a load of shit.
seriously, ranger is not THF, what the fuck are you guys thinking
MAKE RAPID SHOT ACTIVATE 100% OF THE TIME
Seriously, what the FUCK kind of retarded ass questions (demands) are these?
Someone should ask in the smn forums, "Can we summon Ixion? I want a pony". I wonder what the answer would be!
