    Yeah, SCH's 2 hour is pretty poopy since it's neither Chainspell nor Manafont despite kinda trying to be. Can sorta pseudo-Benediction, too, but all of these are technically possibly without the 2 hour. Would be nice if they called it Meltdown, since Merton makes me want to buck my teeth and say it in a bad Asian accent, but eh... seemed like a helix on crack, so maybe MV would work with it, too.

    I know I'm late to the party with dancer comments but if they feel splitting waltz timers would make dancer too OP, then why not give us a "stance" ability that lowers DD potential in some way and splits or lowers healing timers?

    meltdown/merton, aspir/osmose, etc...

    Looks like a really nifty spell. I'm glad that they're finally bringing the flashy stuff to magic. I mean.. the Empyrean WS have all been looking so spiffy but not much love for magic stuff..

    Someone makes a point that meltdown is already taken, but the truth of the matter is that phonetically, the japanese name is MERUTON, which doesn't necessarily have to make sense as an english word. Merton is definitely closer than Meltdown as a transliteration.

    I actually like the name Merton. No, not a proper word, but a call back to my favorite FF game, just like Atma and Magicite.

    I am a bit concerned that the SCH used Elemental Seal before each Merton use though. Makes me fear that the spell is going to be fail without it.

    P.S. Kuno, want to work on dark potency Magian staves?

    I was thinking Septimus on WAR or THF to melee down the mobs, with you on BLM and Atum on SCH to try to get the kill shot with Drain and in the worst-case-scenario, Noctohelix.

    This plan sounds terrible... >_>

    Is there a reason that the mob just sat there after it was hit by Merton, waiting for two DoT ticks to finish it off? Additionally binds?

    The dark elemental magic we are planning to add in the next version update features quite similar stats.

    Do you have any plans of adding Death?
    We do not have any plans at the moment.

    Would like magic similar to the opening movie where multiple black mages are required to cast it.
    Ja-type spells were created with this in mind, as a damage bonus is added when the same spell is cast repeatedly. Also, in regards to magic to be added in the future, we are continuing to explore whether it would be possible to implement a system similar to what you are requesting.

    Make it so a percent of the damage dealt by elemental magic is converted into MP.
    More than a job trait or ability, I think looking into similar effects for equipment would be more plausible.

    Add an ability that increases the damage of the next spell cast.
    We will look into it. Of course, as you would expect, a risk would be associated with this though.

    Let us use staff weapon skills that are only for certain jobs and support jobs.
    We will look into this along with the weapon skill revamps.

    Weapons are only being used to enhance stats, so please revamp the damage aspect of weapons.
    We consider a black mage’s weapon to be magic. To give a pretty extreme example, the concept is that you are a magic expert, but have little to no weapon attack power.

    Of course we are not rejecting black mage’s close range combat and weapon skills will be added, but we plan to focus adjustments on magic first and foremost.

    Aside from the melee blm question and that opening shit, I am happy with the BLM stuff. They might give little things like staff WSes, but also big things like lowering costs, a dark element nuke, damage dealt -> mp and even a new JA. Man every other interview so far blows in comparison.

    Of all the questions in the world for BLM, they didn't address some way to consolidate staves?

    That being said I agree with Kuno, the BLM was really promising in comparison to everything else that's been posted (especially NIN <_<)

    Someone want to explain to me why SCH gets an AOE super powerful death spell that hits tons of mobs with pretty damn good accuracy, yet SMN has a 2 hour that, AT BEST, can hit maybe 4 things?

    What the fucking crap SE? Do you not realize how under-fucking-powered Odin is compared to this shit?

    SE already announced Merton stats weeks (Maybe months?) ago, so I'm surprised people are asking about the helix property of the spell. Whine more SMNs.
