Not really that upset at it being late September. Been keeping myself busy with minor stuff and random odds and ends in ZNM, Salvage and Abyssea. Hopefully I can clean up and be done with it before the update that's probably going to recrowd things.

Wheres my once-a-day Einherjar!!
I'd take once a day all events. Really we're at that point now where nothing should be that restrictive.
I don't particularly mind late September. The only reason I'm surprised is because they're feeding us content as if the update is next week. I wonder how they're gonna keep up...
Late September = snoozefest. Not surprised though, make more money in the long run pushing updates back a month here and a month there.
This whole year is basically a boring year of cleaning up and adjusting shit. The later part of the year may get (slightly) better however as the level cap is finalized, Voidwatch finishes, and the more unique things like the test server/daily rewards/"dungeon crawling"/The Last Stand get rolled out.
Its a pile of fail
Yeah, I really didn't understand why splitting the ability but leaving it on the same timer would necessitate lowering the absorb rate. You wouldn't accidentally steal items instead of buffs from . . . NMs that don't have stealable items? Any time that you actually want to Aura Steal, you probably don't have to worry about taking an item instead or vice versa.
Preach. I seriously don't understand why they don't just ditch the idea of Thf being an enmity controlling job and go back to the whole stealthy stabby-stab in the back mentality.
The only logic I could see behind that would be if they put Aura Steal on a super short (I'm talking 15-45 seconds) recast timer so it would mainly function as a Dispel rather than a way to buff yourself. If the Dispel was 100% and the absorb rate was still like 75-90%, then it would actually be pretty boss with that low of a recast actually.
I'm pretty sure I failed to steal any Erratic Flutter's Haste effect, even with 5/5 merits, they were just dispelled. Songs also cant be stolen.when you consider that you can reach a 100% rate of absorption
Then make Aura Steal is own recast so I dont waste it attempting to steal/dispel ice spikes from skeletons only to get a fucking bone chip.
What pisses me off most about this whole thing is that way back when SE decided to make Yonin and Innin unavailable from Ninja sub when the cap was raised to 80, they essentially yanked a semi-viable option (dual wielding) away from several jobs, but mostly Thief.
Innin would have been a long needed boost that suited the criteria that one would imagine a Thief would fulfill; being behind the mob, giving up one of their strong areas (evasion) for a boost in another (crit and accuracy) If they wanted the abilities to not be 'abused' by tanks/2 handers, why not add a condition where you needed to dual wield to receive the effect ala Hasso/Seigan. Still too strong? Reduce the effect gained when used as a subjob again, like Hasso (and Seigan? Does the counter rate lower when subbed?)
Frankly, I don't see the difference between giving a Thief Yonin versus giving a White Mage Light Arts or a Warrior Hasso. You're simply enhancing what a job already does by highlighting what that job is best at.
I also think that Afflatus Solace and Misery should have been available via subjob. Would have helped out Scholars quite a bit when it came to being mildly useful. Red Mages too, I guess, but meh.

Hasso isnt exactly crippled by being SJ: a 45 sam and a 90/sam recieve the same hasso effect. the haste and accuracy are constant, the STR bonus goes up by level.
Seigan is also not crippled when used by SJ. I dont believe light/dark arts are crippled by SJ.
The only JA's that I can think of that are SJ crippled are:
SA, TA, Souleater, Meditate, Hide(I'm pretty sure the dropping hate thing and SA anywhere doesnt work on SJ), Phantom Rolls?, Utsu:Ni, Waltz's and Samba.
Songs are kinda crippled, but thats once again based on the skill levels offered by SJ, as well as the inability to use instruments.
Barrage is also only crippled by job level.
Did you succeed at any point? I've tried it also with the same result and drew my own conclusions. I have a gut feeling that you can't absorb things whose potency exceed the player cap for that particular stat.
@Camate's post
The idea that Aura Steal with lower recast or no "risk" of stealing items is somehow overpowered is ridiculous. There are only a handful of situations where it's really useful/worth using and in none of those is it even remotely game-breaking. Aura Stealing Carabosse's Summer Breeze regain was probably my favorite use of it to date.
The thing is, is that Yonin and Innin aren't affected by the Ninja's level- they start out with a static bonus, then decrease over time. What I don't get is that SE essentially stated when they raised the cap that they wanted to keep jobs specialized and not have their individuality taken away. Why not just halve the bonus that you would get by subbing ninja to get the ability? They didn't gimp Convert and that's arguably more of a 'signature ability' than Yonin and Innin are.
Light Arts and Dark Arts themselves aren't crippled, but the number of stratagem charges are. Also, Accession has a restriction on Haste, as well as not being able to AoE any spells that a Scholar main would be unable to learn.
Here was me not stacking SA or TA with WS cus I assumed TH couldn't proc then rofl
