Wow, that's pretty crappy that we'll have to wait for the next trials for staves. At least it's more time for people to farm geodes.

If you want the 'Captain Planet' staff thing, suggest it. If enough people like the idea, they might do it.
About the Ex Item Delivery Revisions. So they mean all those items on that list "will" become deliverable? It's just the wording is a little contradictory.
" [Items to be Made Deliverable]
* Updated on Sep. 9, 2011 3:27PDT/10:27GMT
The following list has been updated since it contained the items that will remain to be undeliverable. "
Why can't they just add a colour variant of the Ex icon for items that can be dbox'd to your mule.....
It's starting to sound a lot like Malacite's ultimate rainbow staff in here lol. Really though, combined staves please.
Because the Confederacy of Dunces would scream that it would somehow unbalance the game. I know that I should suggest it, but I know exactly who would have conniptions about it somehow destroying the game FOREVER. Besides, the Community Team reads BGForums, right Bayohne and Camate?
They may not be able to. As far back as I remember playing with the data files, there have been four tag icons. Originally they were "Rare", "Ex", "Tmp", and "Relic". The "Relic" icon was later changed to "Aug" when augmented items were added to the game. It is quite possible that with certain limitation imposed upon this game that 4 is the limit for that sort of thing.
Or it is possible that they just never thought to do that, I can't imagine that were it possible, it would be hard to make a check to see if Flag04 is present on an item to display a different "Ex" icon. I could do it in my Image-O-Matic and I am an amateur, there is no reason why professional programmers couldn't do it if it were technically possible. (But I also don't have Ps2 spaghetti code to hamper me, I have my own homemade spaghetti code!)
It's the spaghetti code that has me worried. We've no idea how items are structured in memory on the PS2. For all we know, even adding a * (plain text, no icon) beside the tags to notate undeliverable stuff may not be viable unless it was handwritten into every item's descript section.
It kinda makes me wish the devs would do a few more posts about how the crew goes about programming/making stuff for FFXI. We've had a couple in the past about zone creation and special effects that were insightful, and that was it. I'd love to hear about their frustrations in creating work-arounds to do new shit on this old engine.
And look who has already shitted up the thread with his innate shittiness!
Yeah, I'm not even going to entertain his post. I could be done with the spellcast conversion by now if it weren't for some of the threads on the SE forums. They just take too much of my time for so little return. Especially, that specific complaint, which would demand that I look through the archives of Twitter (Fan Fest stuff) and POL to find the answer. Not to mention I avoid having the thread derailed on that issue.
I'm gonna need some sources mmkay
BG is not a reliable source for information, mmkay
Didn't SE already mention that the code only allows them to add so many stats to one weapon meaning any possibility of a super, ultra, mega, ultimate prism stick is out the window?
Couldn't they just add magic damage +%? Instead of elemental affinity that is.
Lol, if SE ever made a prism staff, the day after the patch, 2012 happens.
This is SE we're talking about. You'd need all 8 staves and then choose a trial resulting in either a perp staff, a macc staff or a damage staff.
Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
Just.... AAARGH!
Did you know that getting all 8 perp staves is really, really easy? I sure as hell didn't, but apparently they are!
I could live with it. Going from 8 to 1 or 2 would be worth it in my book.
