This isn't exactly my idea but a LS member mentioned this to me and said it would be awesome if they implemented a system similar to einherjar where you would get points after each kill and you could horde the points and turn them in for pieces of gear. If there was more of this in the game it would definitely be a lot more fun. At least that way it would be rewarding for the people that already had the stuff that they wanted from a particular NM. I'd say keep the drop rates as they are if they had this in place.

SCH at 75 was amazing. DNC at 75 was not.

DNC at 90 is amazing. SCH at 90 is not.

What SCH needs, more than adjusting Helix effects (because for one, they'll lower the Helix spells so you can get them as a SJ, and of course it being resisted on everything that worth a damned) is more SCH-only spells. RDM/WHM got loads of them, SCH has only gotten 3 spells (lolenmitycontrol) and 2 JAs in 15 levels. The rest is SCH playing catch-up to BLM spells, of which Break, a completely useless spell, is one of them.

It needs something that is SCH only. If RDM got pushed with Refresh2, Addle, and whatever else they got (Imma RDM, I'm sure I got shit), and WHM got higher tiers of Curaga and Cure6, as well as going to get Addle, SCH got given that TP spell and the ability to SC with itself. It needs native Haste (which would thus allow it to Hastega), it needs spells that enhance players the way RDM and WHM can, it needs to not be focusing on DoT shit because Regen4 isn't going to save a fight, and Helix isn't going to win one. If they really want to push SCH to be a DoT job, both in a curing capacity and a damage capacity, they need to push it so that the effects it can do are far, far, far superior as to what they currently are. Why do they need to adjust the level at which Regen 3/4 can be learned? Not like it's hard to get to 90 now and just learn all the spells at the top.

Urgh, I could go on, but SCH used to be my favorite job in this game. Now it's relegated to a job that I collect gear for because no-one else has leveled SCH. THey want it to be a 'time mage' of sorts, give it more time-mage stuff. Give us Stop. Give us multi-tiered DoT spells. Give us greater potency Regen. Turn Adloquium into 3TP/tick rather than a shitty 1TP. Fuck, do something to SCH spells just don't lower Helix spells so they are subable for fucks sake. If they did, the only thing SCH would get that's native as a main job, would be the 3 spells they've gotten post-75 and the weather spells.

    Whoop-de-fucking-do.

Actually you have it all wrong. DNC at 75 was amazing for party oriented content, sch was not. DNC at 90 has no place beyond random lowman/solo stuff. A good dnc could main heal things like merit parties/dynamis/ein and provide a massive damage boost via haste samba.

Yeah, seconded. Level 75 Dancer was one of the most powerful jobs if played properly, which it rarely was. The problem with the job boiled down to the AF and people who leveled it for the AF.

Yeah, thirding that one. I don't know how anyone could say DNC 75 was bad if even once you played with a competent one. My LS was fortunate to have three good, dedicated DNCs and it changed how we did events ( or at least changed our efficency).

If you average one body every three T4 NMs with a full alliance and capped light, every individual player has about a 2% chance of getting the body per kill. After 35 T4 NMs, you would expect half your alliance to have a body. Assuming you do one NM per day (no dust), this means that you can "cap out" half your alliance on one T4 NM every month. Of course, half your alliance isn't all your alliance, and there's a pretty good chance many of the (often highly situational) bodies will be wasted on people that couldn't give a shit while half the people that care about the bodies still don't have them.

    It's just a dumb system.

Scholar Adjustments. Some pretty minor and nonspecific shit, but I think they're adjusting more common complaints with the job.
That only works if your mules don't continue to get the items

Unfortunately I can't really say at the moment what pet will do what, but assume that as long as it is not a special NM it will basically have the same properties as the original monster.

P.S.: If I see someone vote for more than one pet, I am going to take the one you list first by default, so please follow directions Thank you.

Question from the peanut gallery- any reason why so many of the OF people have hard-ons for scorpion jug pets compared to the awesomeness that is the GIANT walrus (koo-koo-ka-choo) doom?

My guess would be Sharp Strike and living in the good old days where Death Scissors would one-shot your tanks while EXPing. As an offensive pet, I probably figure a scorp would be similar to Nazuna. Breath moves could be potent if SE doesn't cap them low, either.

Ok, if you say DNC was really good at 75, then I'll believe you, having leveled it to 90 myself I can see how in hindsight with the correct setup and correct playstyle, it can be glorious.

But my point was about Scholar. At the moment, SE is pushing it to be a DoT-mage that manages Enmity, and that's about as useful as it goes at present. Helix spells need to be useful. Klimaform, an Artifact Armor-type thing (that is, all other jobs have a weapon that no other job can use) can be used with /SCH, touch unbalanced. Would Hastega really ruin the game? Would 3TP/tick really Ruin the game?

    Is the game already ruined?

    idk!

Yeah, Scholar can use adjustments and there are a lot of ways to change the job that wouldn't break anything related to game balance. It's just that you got the "Dancer's usefulness" index backwards.

I will say even though you can get Klimaform /SCH... I would happily trade my Blessed Hammer for a spell that people could sub

Klimaform is crap without SCH, in general, anyways.

What do you think is needed to "fix" DNC at this point? Is it just one of those things that needs more DD friendly mobs that isn't currently offered (and with a system that isn't using triggers) or is it something else entirely?

I can't come up with any real "Fixes" for supporting role Dancers that would make them anything less than totally overpowered. Things like allowing Haste Samba to partially pass the cap would qualify in my mind as broken, considering 85% vs. 80% Haste would be +33% damage. Here are the things that killed supporting role Dancer:
    1) The fall of 6-man single-target mob-murdering events.
    2) The rise of alternative Haste sources.
    3) The rise of plentiful Refresh sources.
    4) Increased monster damage.

Dancer's advantages at 75 were basically:
    1) Full parties fighting the same monster were the optimal fighting format for Sambas.
    2) Increased damage by about 50% because it brought the average double March + Haste + gear melee from 70% to 80% delay reduction.
    3) Curing Waltz was incredibly efficient in terms of HP healed / Time and had a huge lead on Cure.
    4) Curing Waltz III spam was enough to keep Hassoing DDs up against a most single trash-mob targets at 75 with a little help from a /WHM or outside mage.

At this point it's hard to restore the "supporting role" to Dancer for these reasons. Splitting Waltz timers would at least make us feel better, but making us better at a role that the game doesn't call for doesn't make us more useful. The only way to make Dancer "useful" is to give it enough supporting benefits and DD capabilities that it's the best "second DD" due to its benefits to the first DD in a lowman party. This would basically have to be done through a Samba, and it's still hard to balance it out so it isn't broken.

I still think DNC could be fixed by giving us various mini wses that took 30-60 TP and did damage and put on some decent debuff, or could use TP of that amount to generate some sort of buff for a short duration (Macc/Matk/Ws dmg + for example)

So i could use 40 TP to deal the equivalent of 5 attack rounds to lower a target's Mdef by a reasonable amount for 10 seconds or so, just in time for a nuke or 2, and then use 30 tp to buff the War's ws dmg by 10%.

I was thinking about dancer, and how about a samba that enhances subtle blow? Our last Samba was level 65 with Drain Samba 3. Seems we're due.

with regard to the sch changes, i completely agree that while they're improvements, they just don't affect sch enough to matter, sch still lacks a "because/therefore". for example, if a mob inflicts many status ailments or does severe damage, therefore whm is valuable. alternatively, you may bring a blm because a mob is vulnerable to offensive magic or you need to be able to spike damage after a proc. you bring a thf because you want drops. you bring a drg because someone has to be a cheerleader (kidding!) but there's no because or therefore about a situation that really says let's bring sch. i mean, what can a sch do that can't already be done by other jobs better? helix? whoop de do. they do too little damage to matter for bubkus. feed everyone an anemic TP regain? go get a cor or TP on other mobs if they're available. gauge the enmity of a mob? common sense does a better job than libra... it's a job pulled too many ways at once and thus has gone nowhere. it's a skunkworks of ideas SE had and it plays like one.

I'm convinced the only reason why SCH exists is because japanese perv's wanted to run around in schoolgirl outfits, the job brought very little, was overall stupidly designed, they could of taken everything SCH is and buffed WHM/RDM/BLM with those abilities/spells but SE needed a reason to have chicks in schoolgirl outfits so SCH was born.

We don't have a BLM or WHM online, therefor let's bring SCH.
