From the people who brought you "Can SAMs dual-wield great katanas?!" and "RDMs buff party members into demi-gods!" we get... "Is TH10 really worse than TH9?!"
It's almost embarrassing to think they pay these guys to "talk" to us.
What's embarrassing is whoever is asking them these questions...
I get the feeling it's more that TH after level 2 is just +1% similar to gear, and I'm fairly certain I saw that posted somewhere.
But Treasure Hunter 3 being statistically indistinguishable from Treasure Hunter 4 is a far different question than "Is TH10 worse than TH9".
Variance could account for either of them really, but honestly to really believe that a level of TH would be worse than another and not be cause by a chance is just silly.
I think in the TH Testing thread, There was a pretty decent sample size that showed TH9 got more drops than TH10.
Of course, This was obviously just within acceptable variances. That said, They just came in and said it was not true, we just got unlucky.
However i would like to say, when you need a test of ~1000 mobs just to prove something does what its suppose too, its obviously such a small difference its realistically not worth worrying about. I'd say, Unless you're farming 1 mob and need every inch of TH (NQ Kings for HQ pops?) Stick to bringing a mage as /THF... Leave your THF at the door![]()
More is more, why not increase your chance? mage/thf no thanks.
Someone on the official forums had a pretty good write up. Basically when you are dealing with such small numbers (like a 1% proposed difference between levels of TH over 2) you need pretty huge sample sizes in order to overcome the variance. Honestly, 500 of TH9 and T10 doesn't mean anything statistically, to get significant confidence (0.05 or 0.01) you would probably need at least 10,000 tests of each, and a baseline of the same number without any treasure hunter.
No one is going to full time TH gear outside of maybe the knife, and the only thing I can think of that kill speed is going to matter on is post triggered Dynamis mobs which is still determined by the proc (and you wouldn't have /THF to begin with trying for white).
Always thought TH was one of the biggest blunders of XI. So many other games did a nice job with Rogue or THF type of classes since XI's release. I always thought SE did an extremely poor job evolving the THF job, adding new tiers of TH was just extremely lazy, half assed thing to do.
The job basically went from aggro control in the early days of "omg don't pull aggro off the paladin! TA ME!, TA ME!" to "go whack that mob a few times and if shit doesn't drop we're going to say your TH sucks."
Hmm why are those snippets getting full page treatment? O.o Here I thought there was something new too ; ;

Naw, we kinda already found the drops by process of elimination. It'll be the 8 items that don't have anything after their names.
Most of the weapons look useless, with the Sword primarily being good as a BLU Apollo's replacement for cures because it lets you offhand a shield maybe?
Memoria Satchet will be worth some gil. The ring will be worthless. A few of the Sashes will sell at a high price, then the market will totally tank and no one will BCNM for them anymore.
Can't be arsed to do any KCNMs because I have to fucking save all my seals for rare abj. and fucking black belt items. Seriously fuck you SE.
