I doubt it'll get translated into EN, but if anyone's interested, SE is looking for a battle developer/programmer for FFXI. The skeleton Dev team gonna get fatter. Not that many requirements to apply for the post, aside from not being an idiot, ability do do maths and no allergies

XI has a pretty small team atm and they're not really pumping too much money into it, since they don't feel a reason to. XIV is a different story, because it put the whole company in a horrible position, so they're trying to fix their reputation and all using lots of resources for that.
Maybe people need just accept that XIV is the future and not XI. Even if SE ever made an FFXI 2.0 how much confidence would you have in it with Tanaka at the helm?
I do like Yoshi-P much more.Maybe people need just accept that XIV is the future and not XI. Even if SE ever made an FFXI 2.0 how much confidence would you have in it with Tanaka at the helm?
I'm amazed no one's made a Tanaka card crusher thing yet.
theres nothing wrong with FFXI that warrants a 2.0
like, it actually managed to get enough things right the first time round.. but a lot of that also depended on its circumstances..
FFXI was released in a generation of more forgiving MMO players. When it first started off, it was riddled with imbalances and core issues that obstructed gameplay (some of which still exist in the game or were only recently removed)
In this sense, XI really hasn't anything bad enough to promt major drastic change. It could however use a little graphical facelift to look slightly less dated.
I'd personally like for it to appear on PSVita (and therefore also PS3) so that I won't always have to put up with classic mode when playing on console
Its in the roadmap.
Remember when people played MMM?
Although I would love to see a FFXI 2.0 with a new graphics engine and all that good stuff, I would be happy if we just had a larger dev team so that we could have quests with some story in them again.
I have no problem with XIV being SE's future, but it's at the expense of XI that irks me.
Overall, I also don't see the need of 2.0'ing XI. In fact, it'd probably be way more tedious because they'd have to go through 10 years of content, redo graphics, convert cutscenes to whatever new engine, and so on down the line. If there's one thing I've ever really only hope for aside from good, casual friendly content, is a UI overhaul to bridge the gap between those who use Windower and its plug-ins compared to console users, biggest flaw being macros.
Anyway, rambling further would just lead to repetition of Tanaka Rage.
The entire year is devoted to combing over the entire game and re-tweaking it to suit the new standards and new level cap. That's about as 2.0 as you'll ever find. Incidentally I think the "2.0" buzz term is fucking cliche now and annoying.
How about FFXI v2 ?
It only took 5 years to get that PUPdate. GG it's about time.
