I agree. It's really sad when you realize that each and every complaint in those 26ish pages are actually very valid and not just fanboy rants.

Having something to look forward like a flying chocobo would actually be a huge incensitive to level up. I sure would like that more than a jester hat or some random items with slightly better stats.
While this example is extremely specific, it doesn't change the fact that FFXIV need stuff like this to make people want to play.
Priorities are up to SE to establish; this is just a huge list of things that need to be remedied.
As for the chocobos that falls more under content/suggestions; point is game needs shit to look forward to. And in that sense there shouldn't be an argument because its true.. nobody is flying to 50 for the soul purpose of killing a few lame HNMs any time soon.
Maybe you don't agree with that particular content suggestion but the problem still stands.
After attempting to read a few of the posts on FFXIV general forums, I've found my new sig.
"Nothing incites nerd rage in FFXIV fanboys quite like progress"
Seriously, the mob mentality and shear level of fucking retard over there makes me fear for the future of the game. It's that vocal minority that thinks Tanaka crafted a wondrous, miracle product, that's going to kill FFXIV if Yoshida listens to them. Thankfully, as much as they clamor about not wanting change, the player polls speak to the overwhelming opposite. I hope he's smart enough to weed out the retards and the good suggestions. Now they're wanting to start debates on issues, when debating with them on why their beloved systems don't work would basically involve no debating at all.
Yeah man its really fuckin annoying. So many people wearing goggles thinking that the armory system / physical point allotment are the best thing since sliced bread. If they were... we wouldn't have these forums.
I understand in the content section he was just throwing out ideas because the game has none atm. Chocobo minigames might interest some, I think it's more in the way it was presented - "FFVII had chocobo raising, so XIV should too!" that made it seem fanboyish.
But things like the elemental wheel? Really? It takes about 30 seconds to get used to. Maybe if you're still playing XI a little longer. "But every other FF was like that!" is not a good enough reason to undergo a major change and rebalancing IMO
I swear to god, I'm going to murder someone over there. It's like wading through a sewage drain of bad ideas and comments. I'm curious as to how the JP forums are going, did anyone ever translate what the devs had said over there?
I used google translate; its was about some forum names not being in-game names and people were whining about lack of integration between game and forums. Not important. lol
I'm posting the thing about specs/talents in a new thread soon; I posted it before in one of the threads but I don't want it to get lost in the stupid.
@ Blythe Not much re-balancing to do... shit didn't work. And going by the fact that that is all you mentioned I'll concede and say that: theres very little that can be argued about in regards to that list.
GOD
DAMN
IT!!!
That jerkoff was the largest reason I couldn't stand looking at zam. More than what he says it's his smug "I'm right and your wrong because I'm better than you" attitude that grinds my shit to paste. I'd take an assault charge just to knock the grin off his face.
I think you still don't get it... Reread the quote that you replied to, maybe a couple of times, then maybe you will understand the point.
I don't agree with a ton of shit in that .pdf, but the fact still remains, shit is broken. But, by all means, if you want to go through the 36 pages and nick pick at every single thing you don't agree with, continue.
My least favorite guy is Abriael, he's super beyond annoying with his White Knighting. He's really pissing me off in like every thread I see him post in, defending every bad decision Tanaka made.
I read through a good part of this document. There are some definitely some good suggestions in there. But, there are also some not-so-needed suggestions as well.
Giving feedback can be a good thing. My main issue, however, with the document is the tone. Always think about your target audience when writing these things. In this case, his target audience is a group of Japanese developers. The tone is wholly inappropriate, and actually distracts from the good points the author is trying to make. It would have a lot more weight with a tone of constructive criticism, rather than the various "fix this now" or "we need this now" statements littered throughout the document.
They can be made into something as good as sliced bread.
Do not assume that specializations, when implemented half-assedly, would be any better than this. No system is good when it has not been polished and refined enough. This system is no Marketplace or server side UI, doomed from the very beginning.
There are multiple ways to make the current system work.. but a) the developers have already stated what they are going to do, and it falls in line with other MMO's even if it has it's differences, and, well... that's enough really.
Not like it matters, but do not act like they have no validity even though it's getting more and more far-fetched....like flying&swimming chocobos.
No, I get it entirely. The original comment I was responding to was:
And IMO? That's not the case. It's really sad when you realize that each and every complaint in those 26ish pages are actually very valid and not just fanboy rants.
edit: Just saying it's not effing flawless like some were suggesting, basically.
yeah this is exactly how i felt. the tone is overly angry and really takes away from the entire thing. honestly the document could be used as THE springboard to solve the game's problems. unfortunately the overall tone makes it much easier to pass over as a list of things some gamer is raging over.
