I'm not going to argue about whether it's time consuming or grindy, I'm just saying there seems to be a large amount of people who want that, but seem to think it conflicts with talent specs because Yoshida pretty much offered one (unlocking) or the other (speccing). I just think a small compromise (it's not like getting rank 20 takes anything) as a pre-req for the specs could make some of those guys support your idea.

Time to go for me, it was fun coming out of the shadows and doing more than lurking/posting info for once.

One of his major "movements" was the XP system and how it was perfectly fine and WE were the ones who were wrong because we thought grinding coblyns was bad. At one point he got called out on his shit and made a thread that was every bit a big baby shit fit temper tantrum about how because everyone was turning against him and that they thought the game sucked that it would never get better because anyone who said anything negative were the problem, not the game.

He is either the best god-damn troll I've ever seen in 15 years online or he is the most legitimately agitating person I have ever encountered.

Here is a snippet I found of him on the official forum. Prepare rage.

    Spoiler: show
Please keep: Surplus, repairs, stat point allocation and job flexibility!

    I am in the opposite opinion on a few topics and I would like to explain why;

First, Surplus. The intent of surplus is to prevent players from leveling 1 job to max level and ignoring the content of all the other classes. By penalizing players who either grind too long on 1 class (or bot) they "entice" you to hop on another class and level it alongside your other classes and in the same light allow "casuals" to keep up.

Please keep the surplus, its annoying to players like me who play too much, but it keeps casuals in the game and makes people play other classes.

Second, crafter repairs and repair NPC. Thank you for making crafting classes more than just a "sidequest" to leveling a battle class. The amount of depth in the current system is wonderful. The mechanic of breaking weapons isn't new, nor is NPC repairing the items.

Fixing gear by employing a "crafter" is wonderful and just because people are too busy powerhousing 1 job to 50 to realize they could have been more effective and leveld a craft or asked one in their ls, doesn't mean you should do away with it. Reduce the prices of NPC repairs maybe, but don't remove repairs or take away features that make crafting robust like battle classes.

Third, Stat point allocation. I LOVE this system and I am VERY attached to being able to spec myself however I want. On several occasions I did something fun an out of the ordinary (like tanking The Great Buffalo on Conjurer) and LOVED the challenge it provided. Sure, I COULD have been on Gladiator and done it with ease, but whats the point? I leveled both classes so that I could use all my skills and points however I wanted and I don't think that should be taken away. Being able to backup heal on my Archer if s#!t hits the fan, or being able to tank on my Lancer when the tank isn't around is AWESOME. Now, I know I can't do it as EFFECTIVE as the classes that are intended to do them, but the fact that I CAN is why I love it.

Keep stat point allocation so that us players who want to be a flexible and well rounded character aren't pigeon holed into "defined classes" Make the classes defined in their own right and let the players step outside that box themselves with their own setups.

And finally, this leads to Job Flexibility. Keep the system where jobs can use other abilities at a reduced accuracy, damage, effectiveness etc... Make it so that the classes on their own have a "unique" feel, but DON'T take away the fact that I can have a ton of MP on my GLD to cure 3 myself when healers aren't present.

Whew, thanks for reading, I know its not what a lot of people want to hear, but I feel strongly and wanted to share.

    Thanks!

    Doctor Mog

I'm not even going to bother posting at that place. It's just as I knew it would be: White Knight loudmouths trying to drown out everyone else and become the "voice" of the community.
Not reading his other posts but this first one you have is the one where I started my battle against Abriael on like page 3 lol.

Good post Kuro, though I'll admit I'm biased because I really like the idea. I hope this this the kind of thing they pay attention to.

And Mog, I think he really believes the stuff he posts. Pre-SP patch he had Youtube videos where he's show how to level "properly." Which of course meant hours of mindless grinding off coblyns. And if that wasn't your idea of fun? You're the one with the problem of course.

Well the forums are getting a bit more stable, but still wish people would quit QQing about wanting FFXI-2, keeping things the way they are, etc.

i think it'd be a good idea to create a proposal thread on these forums where we can cross-post our suggestions from the official forums. that way we can vet and support each other's ideas on the official forums, and also prevent them from fading away too quickly.

In regards to FFXI-2: If SE did say they were gonna scrap FFXIV and remake FFXI with new graphics, zones, missions, and a few tweaks here and there, would anyone else be as happy as I would be? Just curious.

I would buy and PAY to play that shit, and play a hell of a lot more than I play XIV now.

But, not really what I want. I have faith they will turn this pile of garbage into something beautiful.

I wouldn't bother with it, it might look new, but deep down it's the same game I played for over 5 years.

Also Shuichi, pretty good chart. However I was thinking of needing around 2-3 classes to get to an advanced.

Doctor Mog was a retard in Aion too! Abriel is far worse though... anyways, the official forums just seem like a complaints department... not sure if they'll ever be anything more.

To further develop the idea of the base classes evolving into advanced classes, it would be a timely coding endeavor to build a talent tree/sphere grid/license board system at this point. I think it would be actually easier to keep the current growth method of "level up, learn new skills as you level up". This way they can keep the current action/trait system that's already in place. However, once you equip the arm for the advanced class and begin to level beyond rank XX, the skills that you learn can only be used by those advanced classes associated with that arm and cannot be cross-classed. They can also keep the guildmark system in place to earn and purchase other additional traits/abilities for the advanced classes. Also, now that the quest system has been implemented, they can also use this system to introduce and allow players access to weaponskills and/or spells related to the advance classes while providing story and lore for the advanced classes. They can do all of this and still keep the armory system, which will be what everything is based off of.

    About dem specializations:

After completion of the initial spec quest you now start earning talent points for each Rank after 30. These points will be used to further your Gladiator into the specs. If you want to deal damage then you can points into Dark Knight and if you want to tank you can do Paladin quest (these are non-repeatable quests btw) and put points into that.
Can you explain what's the difference between current action points or w/e and these talent points?

Also, why not keep the current system of gaining abilities, spells and higher tiers alongside getting higher rank? I'm not sure if what you're suggesting goes against that, just throwing it out here. There is no need for a "tree".

    Lastly

I'm sure there are players out there that would love to be a damage dealer on their CON/THMs but seem to fall into the pits of healing since their nukes/dots are very inefficient. PUG/MRDs have a few abilities that seem to imply that it should be the one taking damage but its not often that you find one tanking.
This is more a problem with the content and game mechanics as the whole, not really anything specific to armoury system or something it could fix. IMO anyway. Force people to spec into tanking/healing/buffing/nuking/dding through content that requires them to do so, and they will.

EDIT: Hmm, maybe I should've posted it in General instead. Well, I'll post it there too.

Lol I was wondering about the general section.

    Also anyone:
Is there a 'Welcome' or 'Introductions' thread any place in the English forums? you know the "Hi my name is noob and I just signed up, I play a level 10 blah blah.." kind of thread? I prefer making those my first post but can't find one or know if I should just start one myself.
