Whats most peoples opinion on the Armory system? I see so many people on the official forum praising this system of wearing gear at whatever level you want, but for me i find it quite a turn off. Im just curious what people on here think? Forgive me if its been discussed on here before, i lost touch of this forum for a while.

Can we just establish (it's something that's bugged me on the official forums) that the 'Armoury system' in FFXIV concerns the class system and skill equipping, not armour flexibility despite the fact that it makes sense to be called that.

I personally think the system sucks currently, it kills motivation to work hard for gear and show it off on your tougher rank 40+ character to see someone far lower running around in it. That said, we already know the system is all-but being ditched in the future so I guess it's a bit redundant.

To me, most of the gear just seemed completely pointless. I only got to around level 20 or so before I gave up on the game, but it really felt like with how much time or money it took to get new gear, none of it really seemed like it was doing anything beyond changing my appearance. I know they slightly fixed how fast gear wears down, but I honestly just stopped caring and kept leveling with gear at 0% due to how annoying it was to have to repair so often.

Armory System is a bitter-sweet thing to me. It's nice you can wear stuff a bit higher than your rank, however at the same time I do think it takes the fun out of trying to get to the rank to equip it.

Either way the amount of people QQing is unbelievable.

Why right here on good ol' BG whenever a topic discussing MMOs comes up. That's why this is all so "surprising" to see that XIV players are no different from any other MMO player when it comes to "community" and "intelligence".

    Official translation:

Greetings everyone! FFXIV Producer/Director Yoshida has made some comments about "jumping" that we wanted to make sure you saw!

Hi everyone, this is Producer/Director Yoshida!

Thanks so much for the lively discussion in regards to jumping.
Since the points that we are currently reviewing in regards to jumping have caused a lot of confusion for the community, I’ll go ahead organize them there.

    Jump review:
    One form of emotional expression
    Additional action-related expression during movement
Able to get over small fences (This is not the main idea)
I believe that jumping as a form of expression, which allows the player to indicate the location of NPCs and also to inform others of meeting locations, will be able to be used in many subtle ways.
However comments such as "Aesthetically, the game will be ruined by everyone jumping around," and "It’s not FINAL FANTASY," and other comments were a bit unexpected, so I decided to add these types of comments into our discussion as well.

Though the idea of jumping was based on wanting to reduce the feeling of being tied to the ground, I will continue to evaluate whether or not this should be implemented by following along with your discussions and comments!

    Map Collision Detection Adjustments:
Being unable to descend ledges where it seems you can easily fall off
Feeling of strangeness when you can't climb up a hill that looks to be easily climbable
We have received a lot of feedback pointing these things out from numerous players, but the task of relieving stress during character movement is currently being tested by development in the form of map collision detection adjustments.
If you can think about this separately from the jump implementation discussion it would really help a lot.
    A reply shortly after:

Seeing the result of the earthquake in Japan today it makes me feel great sympathy and sorrow for the Japanese people.

It has also scared me senseless of the possibility of this happening so close to home.

I think today's events in Japan should serve to only fuel the argument against adding a jump feature in game because if we had too many people jumping at once in Eorzea it would create an earthquake with the same consequences of the one that hit Japan today.

Do we really want to go through something like that?

    I rest my case.

Wonder if they'll translate the rest of the posts, I was actually expecting something more like a summary of Yoshi's posts for yesterday.

    Also...

    Yoshi-P responds to PVP:

Hi everyone, this is Producer/Director Yoshida.

Thanks so much for the lively discussion about PvP.

Since PvP falls under battle improvement content this is something that won’t be implemented for some time, but I really appreciate your feedback.
We’re not planning to implement a form of PvP where you can get caught off guard and killed by another player, so in that regard, you can rest at ease.

I consider myself to be a PvPer, so I understand a lot about the advanced nature of PvP in general. However, I would be really happy if everyone could continue to discuss your thoughts on PvP and think about what kind of PvP would best fit within the world of FFXIV. (I understand that PvP is a feature that has things that people enjoy and things that people oppose as well.)

Did we ever find out the official translation of that post regarding redoing regions or was it only about collisions?

I think it was only about collisions based on the previous post. I guess the whole map thing was just people jumping to conclusions from a bad translation? Or did someone that speaks fluent Japanese/English confirm that it was indeed about redoing maps?

There's been a lot of that lately. Someone says it's confirmed Grid will at least be redone, however I do think we have a decent chance at them being redone since it seems to be a hot topic in both the JP/NA forums (outside of the raging of jumping), can't common on the other languages though.

Grid is the only one that needs changes. I can live with the other ones. Even then they shouldn't change the entire Shroud, just parts of it to save time. If they just did Bent Branch and Tranquil zones you'd only see the maze forest when you venture into the outer areas. There's nothing wrong with a maze layout itself, the problem is the entire region is that way.

Fuck, man, I dunno how much this affects the game but I am starting to think more than what I initially assumed. The property damage could be high, maybe so much that they can't work in the Shinjuku building.

Would be kinda rude to ask him about that atm though lolz

    EDIT: This forum is also broken >_>;

There are so many things in this game I wish we could go back in time and do properly from the start. But given the situation I think we can live with the copypasta in LL/Uldah and hope they learn from their mistakes if/when new regions are released with expansions. And that's my attitude to a lot of the suggestions being raised on the board.
