Common misconceptions of people who vehemently oppose botting:

1. People bot to make the game "easier" (no - they bot in order to spend less time glued mindlessly to the screen, hence trying to bring up anything regarding "skill" is utter nonsense)

2. People bot solely for this convenience (no - botting unequivocally increases your chances of claiming because it removes human error. Even someone with perfect reaction times paying rapt attention will get caught out by something spawning out of their line of sight every so often, whereas a bot won't)

3. Everyone who bots thinks that botting makes them "elite" or "cool" (anyone who does think this is a moron and you're perfectly welcome to take the piss out of them)

4. People who bot think that everyone -should- bot (nope - it's up to you whether you do or not. If you don't think the convenience is worth doing what you consider to be cheating then that's perfectly understandable)

This is coming from someone who doesn't even bot any more, although I'm not sure why I'm trying to argue against the anti-bot brigade for the umpteenth time because even though they've been presented with clear and logical arguments time and time again they don't seem to possess the ability to comprehend them in the slightest. There's nothing wrong with disliking the practice of botting, but if you're going to condemn it at least come up with justifiable reasons for doing so.

Tons of people do this, seen it myself and have been guilty of acting like i was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but then realized i wasnt cool or elite, and that i joined the craze about 3 years too late. People just assumed they were amazing since they were/are in high end linkshells, so they acted tough and big when they werent, again before anyone calls me out on doing this, i am gonna say i was guilty too! But there are too many people who still do this and think they're gods of this game and are incredible players.

I'm sevourn on ffxiah, i don't usually post here much, but in this case, i'd like to warn as many people as possible and i would very much appreciate it if anyone with wizbot could confirm or deny this

i've got what i think is some pretty demonstrable evidence that wizbot is now actively installing viruses on your computer, and opening backdoors for wiz.

i am reposting this at the request of someone on the Xiclaim boards who is worried about retaliation from wiz.

it's also worth noting that the bot will spam offensive shouts to ffxi if a user accesses the xiclaim site.


tl;dr elitexi/wizbot is installing backdoors and malware on your computer, and if you are still using this software for some ungodly reason, please stop. i've independently verified these processes with another user on this site.


from what i've been told, wizbot needs to be actively running for you to catch the processes. just doing a scan with wizbot down isn't going to catch anything.
