Personally, pvp wise, I believe the classes are fairly well balanced. Especially when you consider the fact that it's a new game.

Mages can destroy a field if left unchecked, it's why people target them first and try to stun them or w/e. They have to be squishy otherwise they'd be simply too powerful.
Rogues are the same but excel at single target kills.
Clerics and Warriors are just pretty darn hard to kill.

Basically every class has its ups and downs... sure there's a bit of tweaking to do here and there but nothing is exceptionnaly broken right now imo. (Not quite level 50 yet!)

To be honest, I've yet to see the downside to Clerics. Massive damage, amazing heals, and chain armor? The only thing I see about them is mana issues, but each class gets a "Do X to get 10% mana back" skill that basically fills up their mana bar.

There's simply no comparison to make. None. XIV first two weeks compared to Rift's first two weeks. Seriously.

You can do this after Rift's been out a month, or three months, but right out of the gate? The game doesn't deserve that - not yet, anyway.

Rift is a FAR superior game on launch day compared to FFXIV after months. Stop being such a fan boy.

No one here is even close to being a fanboy compared to half the Rift general forums. If you want to nitpick useless shit, go there. Half your posts seem to boil down to "Well I don't MEAN to stir up shit, but let me make a comment that we all know is going to stir up shit."

Basically, this. The BG Rift forums is pretty much an even split between "this is awesome vs. this is annoying". If you're trying to raise light to the fact that some shit isn't perfect, or even good, we all know that already. We've known that since early beta or even beyond, because we've been playing the entire time.

No personal grudge against you, its just that your posts would be better suited in a place where there's actual fanboys.

It's not so much that there's rift fanboys, its that there are xiv haters. :D And you really shouldn't provoke them, ring.

Although one person in particular seems to stand out as a fanboi of a caliber that goes beyond just this game. Fortunately he only speaks in jest.

I like Rift about as much as I like WoW (both are very very good games, I just like FFXI a little more). I played the beta and eventually will pick it up (this week looks like a good time to do that because FFXI is down).

I think you are still missing the point. There are about a million reasons that Rift is superior to FFXIV, but comparing a bug fix patch two weeks after the launch of a new MMO just doesn't make much sense.

If you weren't being sarcastic then just take this as an explanation of my incredulity.
