No one here is even close to being a fanboy compared to half the Rift general forums. If you want to nitpick useless shit, go there. Half your posts seem to boil down to "Well I don't MEAN to stir up shit, but let me make a comment that we all know is going to stir up shit."

I think you are still missing the point. There are about a million reasons that Rift is superior to FFXIV, but comparing a bug fix patch two weeks after the launch of a new MMO just doesn't make much sense.

If you weren't being sarcastic then just take this as an explanation of my incredulity.

It actually does make a difference, maybe not in the actual update or fixes, but for the Public Relations part of the job, Trion has it way better than any other MMO company I've ever seen. Not only do they offer a direct feedback option in the game, but they actually seem to listen to the complaints and they adress it before they do the actual fix, so they don't lose customers over retarded stuff like dismounting and such. People forget that MMOs have a perpetual cycle of fixing imbalances and creating new content, and since people all like different things, it's really hard to satisfy the whole playerbase. What FFXIV, Aion, WoW, etc. has been to create the hype for a huge update and then in the end, shoot themselves in the foot since the content is okay, but nothing near what they advertised. Basically, the short term aspect of the industry that Trion is approaching is what makes this MMO different, not just the content or the lore.

Really? So all the posts on the Rift forums about how GM are not responding to and just canceling GM tickets doesn't mean anything, but if they post three pages of incredibly minor tweaks and bug fixes then ZOMG PUBLIC RELATIONS GO! I am not saying that the GM whining issue is even relevant, I am just saying that three pages of minor bug fixes doesn't mean anything.

Also, two weeks of customer relations doesn't really prove anything one way or another.

Trion is not approaching anything differently. They are just afraid of the suicide a bad launch can be for a game. They will kiss the players ass until doing so raises the cost of producing the game. I don't even know how you can compared updates from established MMO's to a game that HAS NOT EVEN HAD AN UPDATE YET.

This is a game I am going to pick up this week, and I was in the beta (well, who wasn't really), but I don't have to be fucking delusional to enjoy the game. They introduce four major changes (things that didn't get in for launch or where major fixes since launch) then the entirety of the rest of the update notes were bug fixes and tweaks. Bug fixes and tweaks are really important to creating a good game, especially fixing them this early, but they don't prove that Rift is a better or worse game than another game, and they don't prove anything about their customer relations.

I ask you, why, and in what fucking way, does have 3 pages of bug fixes and tweaks prove a fucking thing about this game one way or another? Do you go up to your friends and say, Hey guys you should really play Rift! They just had 3 pages of bug fixes and tweaks! This game is totally awesome! No, of course not, you tell them about the graphics and the content. Rift is good because of those things, it is not good because of fucking bug fixes.
