The photo of the split road with the split on the orange line is eerie. I wonder if it split down the line because the weight is always distributed on both sides? Makes me wonder.

Authorities in Japan are planning to release some radio active vapor to relieve pressure but it is not supposed to be dangerous.

Yea, the radiation level is about 8 times higher than the regular level. They just increase the evacuation area from radius of 3km to 10km. The only unconfirm is that there is a rumor about the control room's radiation is over 1000 times than the regular level.

I've put off looking at these videos and pictures all day but holy shit! I've yet to hear back from my boyfriend and his family who live in Niigata (which is right next to Fukushima & Sendai) so starting to worry a little now. I read a report earlier that electricity was out across 70% of Japan, is this still the case?

The japanese roadworks industry is a bit broken.
They do a lot of unneeded work in order to keep their budgets high or something, so there tends to be a lot of "fresh" roads.

As far as availability of items is concerned, there's only supposed to be a slight delay for the retail releases of Reitaisai 8 items. Only thing I am worried about are the airports, though that would depend on where your favourite shop is located I guess.

Still quite worried about a good friend in Japan, though, no answer yet, I sure hope he's alright. All the news reports sound terrible, absolutely terrible.
