Ok so I stayed up way too late last night working on those empyreans in Tahrongi (starting to hate that zone), thus I have a headache today and brain feels very sluggish. But reading this post, especially the bolded part, made me wtf a bit. Taking about how tarus have less VIT than elvaans so they are more squishy, yet saying tarus should have to CureI twice for the same amount of HP as an elvaan - wouldn't that result in them actually gaining more enmity?

For a long time, I've been disappointed by the cap on healing magic. If you're a low-level Tarutaru, the damage you can do with black magic spells rises beyond the cap where cure potency is capped. So if you're an Elvaan, you suffer both the curse of low MP and the low cap of your cure spells, putting all that extra MND to waste. Tarutaru, though, has the benefit of both high MP and higher caps on the damage they can do.

For developers with such a huge concern for game balance, why didn't they balance in this area? Since Elvaans have so little MP, they should be able to cast Cure I for 60-70 HP at lower levels, especially since they have higher VIT than Taru and can take more hits in low level parties. Tarus have more MP but low MND, which is right for them since their smaller cures shouldn't draw as much hate.

Am I way off here? And I have no idea why I got annoyed by this post really, there is something just wrong about it but brain refusing to cooperate and tell me exactly what it is.

If you have more HP as an Elvaan, you need to cast cure more often to recover full HP. If you're a Taru, you don't need to cast cure as often. It doesn't make sense from an absolute value perspective (Elvaan and Taru character take 100 DMG, it's the same either way), but it does from a percentage standpoint. If the Elvaan is at 25% HP looking to return to 75%+ HP during night, he needs more cures than a Taru to reach 76%+, so having better cures will remedy that.

I wasn't even thinking about elvaans or tarus curing themselves, was thinking more curing others - then again, by the time you're in an exp pt as a whm or a rdm you'll have CureII anyway - if you are low lvl soloing it doesn't matter how much hate you draw by curing since you're the only one getting hit anyway... Oh god, idk what I was thinking to be honest, I think I'll just NOT read official forums today.

I surprised that such a thuper-therious mage never noticed this ninja adjustment to magic resistance. I even linked to a poorly-written (but adequate) post that described SE's adjustment. It wasn't a bug. It was a ninja adjustment that was "working as intended" until SE could no longer ignore the outrage from mages. When SE corrected the 'bug' (and apologized, which was unprecedented for the Devs back then), I think they only called it a bug as a way to .

also, is anyone else really turned off by the fact SE is actually listening to these people? They seem to take these suggestions or considering it and a LARGE portion of BG (the real community imo) doesnt use the forums because the rules are ridic and the forum has a swarm of really stupid players.

Could the game suffer though if BG doesn't take a kore active role in submitting feedback to the official forums effect the development of ffxi? One of the community reps mentioned that they take whats suggested on the forums to heart and if so many of us aren't taking part in being active, aren't we basically asking for the game to revolve around the people who are posting/suggesting?
