You realize that if you have your own good ideas to propose, it's possible to post them without being a seething dickwad? You never actually have to interact with others, just don't be surprised if even intelligent people disagree.

Perhaps my biggest peeve fueling a lot of bashing is the preservation of some silly sense of accomplishment when it comes to asking for adjustments on the time sinky nature of various activities when the people against will likely never (want to) play with or see the people asking for a little design sanity. After that is people defending issues with new content by saying old stuff sucked so we should be thrilled.

A lot of the people i've talked to asking to support or come on forums and give feedback, say they don't want to join the forums because of the banning BS and having a strong dislike for the alla-type nature of 75% of the posters.

I'm not saying it's everyone but ive talked to about a dozen people in game and on BG and they all say the same thing about why they don't use or read those forums. I don't believe itsa coincidence.

How many of you in this thread actually log in and post, "like" or contribute to the forums? Reading is one thing but some people don't even do that.

I for example, do not read alla and i stopped reading/using it when I saw all those really ridic comments, so I can understand why some people don't use or read the official forums but I think it's different because what is posted is being considered/suggested to the people in charge of the game in a more direct way.

I think BG needs to consider what not contributing to the official forum could do. The dev team is getting very little funding and they are only interested now in providing small newish events that are aimed solely towards the casual and considering what is suggested. I don't think there's a lot of creativity going into the development and thats why they made the forums: to consider just what the contributers want.

I'm not saying theyre not using BG too, I'm saying they aren't using it enough or using too much of what the official forum posters are suggsting. It's my understanding 2-3 changes and additions have been made to the game that came from the official board. Thats in a very short period of time.


Out of all the years BG has been around, how many suggestions did Square enix really take to heart? A lot, in the 8 years im sure but the official forum is making these changes and adding these additions it seems at a much higher rate in a very short period of time.

I post and lurk and I DO NOT want this game to revolve around the cheesy and sometimes noobish suggestions by a large portion of those players wanting shit HANDED to them. I consider BG to be the elite of ffxi. The advanced section is mostly of players who are either very skilled and contribute knowledge or players SEEKING knowledge in the game. That is what SE should be investing and revolving dev. around.


I'm not on some elitism trip and they very well might now be focusing on giving ffxi a real endgame back, but my concern is how absent BG community is from the forums when the forums seem to be trying to take such an active part in dev.

Maybe it's just me and my friends. Or maybe it's all just lost in some of the retarded stuff. I guess i'm the only one who gets the feeling the BG isnt as active there.

Def need a decent mod though. Some stuff is moded too much and others, not nearly enough. The whining on that board is pretty extreme.

The sad part is that the whining is mostly contained to about half a dozen users. There are other bitch posts from other people, but they'll usually just add a post to an existing thread instead of whine about something new in sixty threads they created themselves, and then create a new thread to whine when one of those threads is nuked.

I guess it depends on what you consider active. You're not going to find too many BG posters going over there and starting threads about what needs to be added/changed in the game since we realize that it's generally a waste of time to make those kinds of posts. Most BG posters are busy trying to combat the tide of misinformation and retardation going on over there. If you look in a retarded thread you'll probably find several BG posters pointing out why the idea is dumb. We also spend a lot of time trolling the fuck out of Starcade.

Pretty much this. The SE forums need smart, well-versed players like those from BG (along with the smart posters from other sites). The SE forums are dangerous. Bad suggestions on that forum have the potential to catch the ears of the developers and wreak havoc in FFXI.

As long as all the insanely stupid suggestions meet rational criticism, I'll be satisfied.

keep in mind too though that there is an SE rep that has an acc here and reads BG. So, even if we aren't as active there, they are probably still getting a lot of info here.

I'm considering making a big whiny thread about weaponskills now that they've said they're considering changing them. I feel qualified to handle Daggers and Great axes, but I'm not as confident about other weapon types. Anyone want to collaborate?

I was thinking about posting a long diatribe about how I never get to use tachi: enpi anymore, and how it needs to be rebalanced so that I can use whatever WS I want.

Any ws that creates a status ailment, or a stat down should really be revamped to have some use, and putting together a strong post about how each ws could be rebalanced would be worth the time. I could only talk about h2h/dagger/staff though, and that's not gonna help too much.

You could also create a thread about increasing the value of the elemental debuffs/poison etc. 8hp/tick isn't what anyone would call potent against mobs.

only statement she made was related to the forums. Believe it or not, there is no reason SE should ban people for being singer stalkers. Blizz would have to ban 80% of their pothead posters too.

this just goes along with my point. I hate doing Wow to FFXI comparisons, but the same stuff happens there too (WoW catering to complaints on the forums). But I never really compare the two nor does it make me not want to play either.
