I just witnessed Rambus shell doing sedna. We went there with 6, 3 of which recently came back to game after being away for over a year and had to sit through that mess. Wish i would have gotten some screenies, but i didnt realize it was his ls until it was too late. There was an epic quote though-after it went yellow 4 or 5 times and we didn't take it -one of their members says" We are trying to proc yellow and damn it's a spammy bastard", while the better part of their LS is sitting on the floor. To their credit they did manage to kill it after 15 minutes and ton of deaths lol. I will check to see if any my LS mates happen to screenie it.

I forgot to mention he had full ls there, An emp NIN, PLD, and THF tanking plus all back up and they kept dropping like flies. We were going to offer to help them, but after the trying to proc yellow comment we decided to watch the show instead. Cuz ya know shadows are useful for sedna lol

That's the part that makes the least sense. Apparently they have time to edit it, but not answer the question.

I think my initial tests confirmed that, but yeah. I have no idea what Rambus is discussing.

So, I nuked for 32 damage without day bonus and with 24 MAB and 71 INT. If the spell's real base damage was 52 or 53, that could result from any application of elemental resistance and MAB.
If I nuke for 34 damage with day bonus, the only order that works (keeping our 52 or 53 base damage) is Resist -> Day -> MAB. I didn't do any fancy math for that, just made 6 cases and changed the conditions.

If I go buy a Water staff (Staff bonus is supposedly before Day/weather a la wiki), then I can move us one step further constrained in the equation by checking if it's 34 or 35 damage with a staff on.

I meant MDT separate from Mob Resist. Atm, we need to place MDT after mob resist somewhere. I give it a name now!

sRES = Mob Specific Resistance
MDT is separate

sRES > DY Bonus > MAB

Which seat does MDT take?!

Man. I wondered how long it would take to get to this point. Someone makes a stupid thread, or idea, or anything else that is usually met with criticism. Someone points out why this is a bad idea/why it won't work/how the math is wrong. Original idiot spams report button and claims offense.

And now the mods buy it. This is the end of civil discussion, or even heated debate, because fucking idiots can't bear to have their ideas tested or possibly implied incorrect.

Shit sucks. God forbid someone's poor wittle feewings get hurt on the internet, SE must protect everyone from ALL words that might be construed to be mean.

Guess that means it's time for every thread and post everywhere to get reported.

In order to do that, you'd have to be able to understand what he's trying to say in the first place, or he'll just report you for twisting his words and being mean. He'd probably do that anyway.

Eeeks proved why that isn't possible. Pointed out why Rambus is so easily gotten into a huff, pretty respectfully given the person involved and the topic at hand, and Rambus decided it was offensive.

Basically said "You get made fun of because you get mad easily and can't tell between a conversation and an attack." And that got shot down for being against TOS. There IS no civil discussion, it's "offensive," and it doesn't look like SE is willing to slap anyone's wrist if you seem to be an attacked party, even if you're a stupid child with a chip on your shoulder.

I don't think SE wants to seriously ban anyone on account of the forums, if I had to wager. They don't wanna offend anyone and lose a customer because someone told them off.

Possible. They would definitely just end up making a thread about how SE is punishing people for being victimized, or something similar. I could see Rambus flipping the fuck out, or Starcade, and still refusing to leave the game. How many times has Starcade said "It's them (us, BG, etc) or me, SE!" And yet both sides still exist. Empty threat of leaving is empty, and all a temp ban would do is likely just stoke the tantrum.

I don't know, I assume the worst. I'm not saying that throwing out some temp bans to them would be a bad thing, but I'm not sure if it would help much.

I actually did that once (I asked why he capitalized the "I" for the word "in") and SE removed the comment.
