lol.
lol.
uh, Kansas played like complete garbage, like Akiyama said. VCU relied on the 3 to score, they shot like 9-28 from inside the arc. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it because VCU was such a huge underdog. If there had been UK and UNC uniforms on those two teams, people would have called it a shitty game.
dumb basketball fan
I personally was not happy with the game. both teams looked like shit to me
and because I had Kansas in the final 4
More like stopping this thread from becoming the NBA thread.
SUCH GREAT TALENT
SUCH POOR CONDITIONING
V-CU
derrick rose is da fucking shiz yo
this is the only year I've ever felt good about picking 1 out of the final 4, there are sooooooo many people completely out of it already.
hopefully UConn and Kimba Walker make me look almost smart.
I disagree, both teams played a pretty damn good game.
KU was ridiculous defensively, VCU just hit a ton of 3's when they got the chances.
KU played pretty well offensively too, their shots just didn't go in. It's not like they were taking a bunch of bad shots, or making retarded turnovers all the time. The ball just wouldn't go through the hoop.
Normally when you see a team like KU shoot 30% it's because the other team pulled them out of their game, got them taking bad shots, etc. But 21 is not a crazy amount of 3's... 2/21 is crazy though, lol. And they had like 20 offensive rebounds, but half the time the easy layups after wouldn't go in.
All in all it was a good game I thought, just VCU's 3s were really on early, and KU could not make an easy, open shot for the life of em.
If all it took to play well was a good 3 point percentage, Gilson DeJesus is like the best player in the big 12 ever.
Again, it's not like they were taking bad shots, shit just wasn't going in. It's not like they weren't moving the ball well, getting lots of offensive rebounds, etc.
I'll put it this way: if you took KU's 10 easiest shots and made them all go in, I'm pretty sure they'd gain like 8 baskets. There were 2 easy breakaways they made, but then a ton of easy putbacks and open 3's and shit that just missed.
I'm not sure how I can put it any better. Shooting percentage can be a good gauge for overall performance when it reflects bad shots and good defense (i.e. VCU's interior game), but when they're missing that many easy shots, it's not really indicative of how they actually played altogether.
It's not like they weren't getting first downs, they just couldn't get in the endzone.
VCU couldn't get a rebound to save their life. KU at some point had like.. three times as many offensive rebounds at one point? Like you said, their shots weren't falling... but I think it was because they were playing badly. They were tight. I made a comment to someone about "When was the last time KU actually made a perimeter shot" and that was around the time that KU finally made one and went on that run. It was amazing. They like.. started to make shots, and all the sudden, they were only down 2! But then.. damn, they started to miss them and ended up losing by ten.
But yeah. KU dominated the inside game, but their players were just having really bad games and they missed the shots. I hate to agree with Leroy, but he has a point. What good is it if a football team gets 500 yards, executes perfectly offensively, but every time they get into the redzone, they either fail to score or have to settle for field goals. What would people say after the game?
"Well! It was a great game. They played well! They just didn't score touchdowns. Oh well."
And oh, this game was to decide who'd be going to the AFC/NFC Championship game.
Yeah. People would say they played a bad game because they couldn't score.
That's just my belief on things. VCU played well, shot lights out (again) from 3, and totally wrecked KU, and it also helped that KU played the worst that they have all year.
The thing is you can't really make the football comparison. If anything it would be like they scored 5 touchdowns, but missed every extra point, and lost by a field goal.
I dunno, my point is just that there's more to basketball than shooting accuracy, and in every other respect I thought KU played a really good game. They missed a ton of open shots though, and VCU stepped up at some brutal times and hit some ridiculous devastating 3's.
