and extremely poorly thought out.
Did he really take a stradavarius to a metro station?
does it make it worse if I only know what a stradavarius is because of Pawn Stars?
lol, people be fucking stupid.
When I read that the first time, all I could think was, "$32 an hour? I can play guitar..."
Sorry if this is taking this topic even further off point, but I do have some experience in this area.
You can't really blame people for not stopping, first of all, he did play at a time when most of them were on the way to work, it's their commute after all.
The average person wouldn't even know those pieces anyway, he's better off playing an arrangement of "Yesterday" or some pop music in that vein. It's not that people don't appreciate complex classical music, it's just that there's a time and a place everything, no matter how good it is.
As a classical pianist myself, I've done a fair amount of public performances in every kind of performance environment. There's a lot of different repertoire out there, and a Metro station on a busy morning is the last place you want to try challenge people with something complicated.
Heard this on WSOU (College Metal Station)
Fucking Amazing.
Aaaaaaaaaaand that officially makes it their 15th minute of fame.
I'm wondering where I said it was a ground breaking social experiment lol....
Only said it was related, and I myself found it interesting the first time I saw it because Johann Sebastian Bach is my favourite classical composer.

I was also impressed with what he made but reading about the experiment there was only 1 person who recognized him and she gave him 20 dollars so it's just as likely he would have only made 12 dollars.
edit. nm, apparently the 20$ wasn't factored in so he would have made ~40$ and hour
Much easier to hide a stradivarius in the subway than someone like Kempff with a piano, which I'm sure would've had the same effect on the unwashed masses. Anyone with an ounce of musical appreciation would've gotten eargasms two stations away with either.
