Back Up HDD question

I need to wipe my HDD again and before I do I've put my PC's old HDD in this one (After running DBan on it) to store files I want to keep.

The first issue I had is windows didn't detect the drive at first even though BIOS did. So after tinkering around with it in Disk Management I got it online and transfering files now. However I want to know if I did everything right so I can access the files I'm saving after I wipe this drive.

Did I do everything right? If so will I have to go into disk management to have windows let me access the HDD?

You did it right, and youll be able to access it again fine, but if the backup hdd will be on a new OS/Bios, then you may need to reidentify it, but it's np, your data will still be there.
