Temporary Suspension of the Services: Follow-up

Below is an update regarding the temporary suspension of the FINAL FANTASY XIV, FINAL FANTASY XI, and PlayOnline services.

Originally, we announced that the services will be temporarily suspended for about a week starting on Mar. 13, 2011 3:00 (PDT). However, due to ongoing issues with the lack of energy, we have decided to extend the suspension until Mar. 22, 2011 (JST). We will re-evaluate the situation on Mar. 22, 2011 (JST) and provide everyone with another update regarding this matter.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your continued understanding of this unusual situation.

* Additionally, the following types of support will also be temporarily unavailable:

Again, this was only a 2 day extension. Based on the news articles I was reading, I was expecting them to go straight for the 27th at a minimum. It could be that they're just moving the playerbase update day to a more convenient day for them (weekday instead of Sunday).

A corporation like them probably has a back-up plan. A week of downtime is alright but I don't know whether they would take too much damage from a month of no service.

When Central Florida was hit with 4-5 hurricanes a few years back, the power companies worked to restore full power to emergency services then commerce and finally residential. Perhaps that is the same plan that TEPCO is using?

That article is infuriating. The title and subtitle are obviously there to freak people out, while the middle to end of the article make it clear that most of the panic is purely speculative. Misleading journalism, ugh.

Back backup servers SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN PLACE all around the world.

I don't know where you're getting your information from. Most people on BG seem to be understanding with the stoppage of services. Works out, been busy with work so haven't wouldn't have been able to play much. I just hope when servers come backup that i'll have an ass amount of stones and i can finish my 90 Armageddon. Lol.

I dont think they had one for this...otherwise "our backup servers in California are up and running".
