I've been here for two weeks but was running all over the place for a while. First on the agenda a friend and I are going to HP7 at the science center when it comes out, and there's still tickets available for my showing time (10pm, the 16th of July)

If anyone wants to come too post something up in hur and grab tickets before they sell out!

I'm still up for somewhere chill to eat dinner or something like that crab place, or anything else anyone wants to do.

Seattle is awesome, you came up at the perfect time too. The days are super long and the weather is usually great out.

Yeah...It's kind of been screwing me up. It's like 9pm and still light out... CONFUSES ME! I love it here though, even the rainy/cloudy days.

Didn't see it mentioned but The Counter just opened up in ballard a short distance from UW. Decent burgers although its usually busy since its a new place here I think. And ate at Dick's a ton when I was at UW, Red Mill is better but I didnt think it was anything amazing. Only went once and must not have gotten something popular. Don't know if you are into sports, hadn't seen anything mentioned on it, but we have a huge tennis community in King County with tons of parks with lights on at night with lots of people to hit with.

Speaking of tennis courts... One of the things I've found really fun while I was visiting Molly Moons was bike polo on the tennis court at Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill. Pretty fun.

Seattle's a great city. I lived there for 6 years, and out of all the places I lived (Denver, San Diego, Tokyo), I enjoyed Seattle the most with Denver a close 2nd.

Depends on the area, but there's always something open somewhere. The U District, for example, never sleeps. Was always a store, restaurant, club, bar, pizza delivery, or anything really, available 24/7. And also, depending on the area, you could take a walk in the middle of the night and the (well-lit) sidewalks will be as crowded with people as during the day. But there are also a few places you wouldn't want to walk in the middle of the night.

I'm kind of scared of Central District/south of First Hill even during the day.

I'd say also that Capitol Hill is pretty alive at night? I'm not really into the night/bar/club scene so I don't know.

Well, I was walking by the reservoir in Capitol Hill with a few friends after dark once, and some guy who was walking past us in the opposite direction asked us if we needed anything. He didn't specify what, but I think it was pretty obvious what he was offering. And some old man at a bus stop was preaching to us in a somewhat nutty kind of way, got on the bus with us, and an idiot friend of mine asked him to join us for a drink after we got off at our stop. Also, walking down by the waterfront, I occasionally see some guy I call the "Trash Inspector". He just goes down the sidewalk by the piers, checking inside each trash can along the way.

Though at least things weren't as bad as Vancouver, BC. I've only been up there a few times, but I always see a bunch of guys on the sidewalks with guitars and tip jars, fairly obvious dealers and, sometimes, prostitutes. The guitar guys aren't that unusual, they're here, too, but there were just so many of them. And I'm sure there are prostitutes in Seattle, but they just seemed a bit more visible up in BC. Once, at a stop light, a couple ladies in fishnet stockings and generously exposed cleavage even asked if we had any room in our van. I haven't been asked that in Seattle yet.

I have seen more homeless people here, though. I didn't see that many in BC, but here I see them holding cardboard signs on street corners all over the place. Unless the guitar guys were homeless, in which case, at least they're a bit more active rather than just sitting around holding a sign.

Yeah. There are a lot of homeless in the city, but which city in the US doesn't have homeless? It always breaks my heart passing by them (mainly due to my profession)...
I do agree there are some eccentric individuals, but I find them amusing rather than scary. I think my sense of fear is a bit out of whack when I live in cities.
