Seattle has a ton compared to most cities tho. California sent a lot our way because of the programs we have up here. I was up on sand point way today, took a picture in front of Lake Washington (10 points if you can name where):

Someone mentioned Novilhos Brazilian steakhouse in an earlier post - I actually ate there last week and it was fantastic. They basically just walk around with skewers of delicious meat and you get to pick what you want. I think I ate like 4 filet mignons wrapped in bacon :O
Also, you HAVE to go to a Sounders game! Game days are always a shitshow down on King street before & after a game (there are a few bars across the street from the field). Even if you are not a huge soccer nerd like me, it's still a great experience. Last night's game had 46,000+ people at the stadium. Oh, and if you like martini's and to people watch, go to Von's on 7th & Pine.

So many Washingtonians on BG, I'm impressed. Once I'm done with my undergrad at WSU in a year I seriously hope UW accepts me to their Medical School. I think it'd be a great place to study (and it's one of the best med schools in the nation). Crossing my fingers. Are you a grad student at UW kareface? I saw your pic in the random img thread, lol. The few times I've visited Seattle it's been super fun.

Nope, I'm still undergrad and will be for a few more years. I'm double majoring in physics and math (Both BS) with a minor in electrical engineering. I was in school 7 years ago for CSE, but I dropped out after a couple years to open an internet cafe (which subsequently lead to FFXI). I do plan on going straight to grad school for physics after undergrad, which I'm pretty sure I'll get into. My cumulative GPA this year was 3.94 and my course path involves way more than the graduation requirements for the physics department.

I have a friend in the medical program, she's working to become a doctor. I never see or hear from her she has been so busy. The program is amazing tho. If you do make it up here let me know, I'll show you the best places to eat around the campus. There are a few amazing Thai and Indian places around here, among others.

Also, Thai Tom is the only one on the Ave I ever ate at but it was so much better than any other thai place I've ever had.

Yep Good call. They used to do MSF classes out there and still have the test lines on the ground.

Thai toms is fucking great. Two other places you have to try are Ok Noodles (formerly what da phad?) and The Banana Leaf. Both are orgasmic thai food (tho Ok noodles has noodle dishes from all over the place).

No it got pushed back again till winter(ish) because WSDOT can't figure it out

Yeah you'll have no issue with a 3.94, hell you should have no problem getting everything paid for if you keep it up. My CGPA is currently 3.87 @ WSU and was a 3.71 at my CC (should've tried harder, but it's still easily good enough for UWSOM, they don't really like 3.9~4.0'ers anyway).

The medical path is quite busy, I can definitely imagine she wouldn't have much free time especially if she's doing rotations, I hear it's hell haha. I like my chances for getting in up there though, being in state is great, and I know a physician that graduated from UW's medical program that'll write me a letter of reference. Plus I'm working a few medical jobs and volunteering etc etc so it should all work out all right. I'll definitely hit you up if I get to come up there next year.

It is literally 4 (I think) store fronts down from thai toms. On 45th and University. Call first, as they will randomly run out of supplies to cook with and close down until more come in. Banana leaf is always open tho, it's on 40th and University (opened eariler this year if my memory serves me) and they are daym good too. I love getting the combo where you can pick 2 of any of their entrees. The Tom yum noodle soup is the best I've had in Seattle. For Ok Noodle I really enjoy mama noodles, black noodles, and a few other dishes who's names are escaping me atm.

There aren't many schools that have a better grad program for physics than the UW that aren't crazy hard to get into atm. I'm not taking any chances, the more 4'ohs the better, lol.

Awesome! I've been doing a ton of volunteer work this year, 100hours last quarter and another 40 the quarter before. Taking it easy this summer tho, just going to focus on HW. Nothing sucks more than writing a 50 page research paper about the impact cloud radiative forcing has on the range for ECS value after math tutoring for 4 hours every night for weeks on end (on top of my other class loads). It's fun tho, I just need to limit it a bit on the busier quarters. Anyways, get your ass up here and we'll eat like kings of the college scene.

Ahh I haven't been on the Ave a ton since I switched schools from UW. Was there about 4 years ago so there is probably a few places I haven't been to. I can't remember the name of the place, but one of those little little burger places on the ave below 45th was my favorite place to eat. The food wasn't that great, but it was a nice little (I mean little, smaller than my dorm for the entire place) burger place where the guy was super friendly and would make us whatever we wanted.

That's a good point actually, research specifically has been taking a huge hit it seems in the past couple years. I know the UW is no joke for undergrad too - a 50 pg research paper kind of puts that into perspective - I think going to grad/professional school there is really top notch for the entire west coast. I dislike their lack of financial aid though, lol. I plan on applying broadly for medical school but UWSOM is my #1 by a long shot. No question about it. Sounds like a plan, hopefully all goes well for the both of us over the next school year!

I'm debating going to see super 8 tomorrow night possibly at the IMAX at the pacific science center. If anyone wants to come with, Microsoft benefits get me tickets at 3.50 a piece and I can get a least 2, not sure if they will let me buy more at that price. I'm up for hanging out whenever if people are bored. I live in Redmond but have no problem driving into Seattle to chill.

Also, /rage last weekend at the 520 closing the whole fucking weekend.
