How it works is thus.
Party, close to, but not consisting of a majority, needs votes to get legislation through. You won't see those votes from opposition, so you must look elsewhere.
Hey, this minor/independent party would be happy to get you those votes. If you do something for them.
Brosseau hasn't been seen she was elected and the NDP told the media she's taking French classes so she can talk to them...
lol
It's just brand association like you said, others candidates were experienced, and none had dirt on them afaik. Quebec is just a big hive mind, it takesva single TV show to make half of the population switch side.
Some people think it's fine, I personally find it scary as hell that people change their mind that easily when no new data was brought up. In this case, I'm happy with the result (bloc dissapearing), but people shouldnt be influenceable that easily (because let's face it, politics you see on TV is incredibly shallow).
In other news, can anyone explain me why every EU country who needed (or might need) a bailout are led by left wing (greece, portual, ireland, spain), while the one people look up always usually center/center right?
E. Union (more accurately, Ger, Eng) is financing this foolishness. No reason to accept austerity measures when you can just get other countries suffer instead.

I'm glad we have serious alternative. The deputy leader of Canada's new Official Opposition party says he doubts the U.S. has photos of Osama bin Laden's body.
Thomas Mulcair, who stands in for NDP Leader Jack Layton in the House of Commons when he is away, told CBC's Power & Politics with Evan Solomon that he doesn't believe photos exist of bin Laden following his killing by U.S. forces on Sunday in Pakistan.
"I don't think, from what I've heard, that those pictures exist and if they do I'll leave that up to the American military," he told host Evan Solomon.
(can anyone explain me again why people are voting for this?)

Rookie NDP MP-elect accused of falsifying nomination papers
Full story at the link. Two days after her surprise win in the Quebec riding of Berthier-Maskinongé, NDP rookie Ruth Ellen Brosseau and her team are being accused of falsifying her nomination papers.
Liberal candidate Francine Gaudet, who came in a distant third after the Vegas-vacationing Ms. Brosseau scooped the riding by almost 6,000 votes, says two residents whose signatures appear on the nomination form deny signing anything that pledged their support for Ms. Brosseau.
Trois-Rivières resident René Young and his wife saw their names on the candidacy form but do not remember signing them, Ms. Gaudet said.
NDP party spokesperson Karl Bélanger said the allegations are “not true.”
“The signatures were collected legitimately by our campaign workers going door to door,” he said. The signatures — 100 are required for a legitimate run at office according to Elections Canada rules — were approved by the election’s returning officer, he added.
“Madame Brosseau is thankful to the people of Berthier-Maskinongé for supporting her and helping her get elected. All the signatures were collected legitimately and if some people don’t remember signing it, well, that will be for them to explain.”
Sounds like hogwash to me though. Getting 100 signatures isn't that difficult and it's probably two old people who are horrified that some young chick has won.
As you stated, it's probably just some butthurt old french people who can't believe someone who doesn't speak french got in their riding.
Just par for the course I suspect. They're whining because who they wanted to get in didn't.
