Every one of you in this thread that thinks hitting your children is a healthy form of discipline are grossly mistaken, and just as bad as these "lazy parents" that you're complaining about. The problem with actually disciplining children is that it takes quite a bit of effort, and is generally a huge inconvenience, and frankly at a time when both parents are working 40+ hours a week, who has the time? Hitting a child only takes a second, and it models the behavior that when someone disappoints, upsets, or angers you, the appropriate response is to hurt them. Corporal punishment is lazy discipline at best.

When it was deemed immoral to physically punish your kid as a method of discipline, you can see the lack of fear of repercussions clearly evolve. You cite physical punishment as being "lazy", and yet you're the one going on about how "wah I work 40 hours I cant be bothered to properly discipline my kid". Guess what buddy, if you don't have time to PROPERLY raise your fucking kid, then maybe you should have worn a condom while you were fucking your gf/wife.

You're right, it takes a second to slap some sense into your kid, and that 1 second slap with a couple minutes of pain is going to be a lot better than the alternatives (jail, hospital, death, etc). I'd rather my kid knew what they can and cant do, what is and isnt right to do, and most importantly, learn fucking RESPECT.

No. The idea is to IGNORE THEM. Do NOT give them the attention they desperately want. If throwing a tantrum doesn't work for them, and you continually ignore them, they'll stop sooner or later.

Go ask a psychologist under what circumstances it is appropriate/effective to hit a child. Your answer will be "never". Are there benefits to is? Sure. However it is not nearly as effective as other punishments, and it comes with a whole host of detriments.

I was working at my boss's other store friday night, and there were a bunch of fucking 12 and 13 year olds (honestly like 8 black boys, 7 black girls and a token white slut) being loud and obnoxious in the store, I overheard one of them saying shit like "yeah and you were getting fucked in the ass and he came in your ass"....something like that. I wish I were kidding or could say I misheard, I really do, but I heard that clearly.

What? When did i suggest doing nothing? I suggested doing nothing in one specific case - when they just wanted attention and/or to piss you off enough to make you give up. Who the fuck ignores their kid when it's throwing a temper tantrum, especially in public? nothing is more humiliating than getting popped in the mouth or on the back of the head for acting an ass while in public. kids don't like to be embarrassed, and they learn quickly will get them to feel embarrassed less. When i used to walk past my parents while they were yelling, it was instinct to walk quickly, with your head lowered and ready to dodge just incase you fucked up and they were talking about you so the pop to the head would possibly miss or just shave a bit off the top, and that they wouldn't connect with that sweet spot at the base of the head/neck. It makes a wonderful cupping noise if hit properly. I stopped fucking up and realized, i don't have to duck anymore. Parent's job; successful. Still ducking? Still fucking up, get smarter.
