First thing I would ask is do you have a budget that you must work within? And do you you live near a Micro Center or Frys? After those are answered I'll break it down the best I can. Others can chime in if I misstep or better information is available.

Thanks a lot of the info, yes i have a microcenter about 30 mins away. I've never heard about this Pascal, so i'll look up stuff about that. No i don't have a budget really. I was thinking about 3k, but going higher doesn't bother me. I just don't want to spend money, just to spend money (Like getting the titan Z instead of ti just because it cost more, so should be better type shit).

Reworked it giving a higher quality psu, a cpu cooler, hdd for storage, and changed some things here and there. Kept cpu/mb the same. About $75 more than yours, but with adding the cooler and hdd. Should be able to find a 27" 1440p monitor for $200-$220.

Would you mind reworking this for the best i5 (is it the 6600K now?)? I'm also building a new pc and your build looks great aside from the fact I don't really need an i7, don't plan on streaming and from what I know i7s don't really do shit for gaming anyways. Can drop the hdd too, have 2 I'm gonna porting over from my current machine, I do need a SSD though. I'm fairly useless when it comes to knowing which hardware is best/compatible.

I'd keep an eye on slickdeals for possibly Dell refurbs or Newegg cheapies. You could also do a Pentium G3258 build for pretty cheap, overclock it, and it would be pretty damn capable. If you lived close by I'd sell you my htpc for cheap!

She has a dslr and photo printer. Both of which cost more than her PC. She needs a PC. I looked through the newegg refurbs. Seen some, what I assume, 2-3 generation old i5s. I honestly don't know what is worth having in a budget range. It's easier to build a gaming rig than a budget rig. I'm familiar with high end parts. I have no idea what the hell an e8400 is capable of.

Depends what you play.

I'd rather get a 21:9 for most games, 4k if you play DX9 games, and 144hz for FPS games.
