I might steal most of that build and keep it bookmarked. Will be even cheaper in 6 months.
For a rock solid gaming build that is a single gpu solution and not needing a HDD (only SSD) you should be looking at in the ballpark of $985. $1500 will net you a multi gpu setup easily. Right this minute there are not crazy deals or ideal deals for psu/ssd/gpu solutions, but it can easily happen.
Corsair RMx is overpriced. Go Antec, EVGA B2/P2/G2, Seasonic, or XFX instead. W10 should be around $90. Do NOT get Kingston V300 series SSD. It has a slower controller. Many other better options exist. The R9 390 is a much better option than the GTX 970 even if it runs hotter and uses more wattage. It will provide a more positive gaming performance. I'm running crossfire 390x and love it.
Tigerdirect is dead. Newegg will have a fresh batch of sales tues. All that stuff you picked goes on sale often. That case is pretty uninspiring, its really a quality $30 case.
Don't be afraid to watch Amazon as well if you have prime. My build about 15 months ago, I saved about 75 bucks just by ordering a couple of parts off of Amazon instead. Since I was doing 2 day shipping with Newegg anyways, I didn't have any delay in the build.
windows 10 home is regularly on sale at newegg for $79-89.
I wouldnt spend that extra money on a bluray player. From what i read, getting a codec for them is a pita and $. Just get $14-20 DVD DRIVE.
I would put that money into a better case. Cheap ones dont have much interior space
So aside from fixing the SSD...case and looking for cheaper deals through alternative.... any last minute observations?
My take is below. This is mainly for price point. As Senji said sales will be up Tuesday and Frys may come out with something too. 850w quality psu Can handle the load of crossfire 390, but I'd want something a little beefier. Only $20 over budget but improves overall power.

That's what we're here for! Another option for a case is the Phanteks Enthoo Pro. I have it (will be posting pics later) and it's a really really nice case. One thing to note about the above build is Newegg/XFX only allows one rebate per household for that gpu. This gpu has gone on sale for the same price a number of times. I personally own it and the performance is great. I can't comment on heat/noise because I have a NZXT G10 + Corsair H50 on it. You can also get the Intel I5-6600k for $225 for new customers using promo code 15now at checkout and waiving free returns.
I'm glad you opted to go Skylake ... the price difference is almost non-existent now, so no good reason to stay with LGA1150. Only bad thing is, the Skylake i7 is really expensive still, not a problem if you go i5.
Had to return a mb and get a cpu/mb yesterday at Micro Center. The guy I normally work with said 1150 is now discontinued and they will be getting minimal stock in moving forward.
That means there will probably be some fire sales on LGA1150 stuff. Maybe.
If you can find the Raidmax Vampire case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811156288 in stock somewhere, I highly recommend it as well. I got that for my build and it's been amazing. Very roomy inside, and the dust filters have helped keep the inside nice and clean. I popped it open about 6 months after building it and it looked like it was just cleaned a week prior.
Decided to stay with my 960 till Tax refund comes in so I can go 980 ti. Been hearing lots of good things about MSI. Thoughts?
I have complaints with some of their laptops (mostly in regards to their general cooling design, but tbh almost every laptop manufacturer fails here compared to the Asus G series) but I can't think of any of their desktop products that I have any real issues with.
