Ok, thanks. I just got worried when I ran the stupid Windows performance assessment and my RAM came back with a 7.5... Those scores are retarded, 1600mhz ram gets 7.5, 3.2ghz 6 core gets 7.5, but one superclocked gtx 570 gets two maxed 7.9's Obviously huge room for improvement there, but they give it max score, who knows...

Quick tidbit about AMD procs, they don't have an automatic thermal shutoff point (i.e. if they overheat they'll just burn themselves up) afaik anyway, which is why they're cheaper for the most part. Sandybridge is hot shit though, really hard to pass it up to be honest.

That's not accurate for anything remotely recent, and really, isn't ever why AMD chips have been cheaper. It's not something that's expensive to include.

In the process of pricing out a new Mobo for myself. Right now im looking at the ASUS M5A99X EVO, but upon looking through newegg I found this ASRock 990FX Extreme3. It's cheaper then the Evo, but has the same chipsets but the Extreme3 has 1 more x16 PCI slot over the EVO. Not to mention the Extreme3 is 20$ cheaper then the EVO. However I can't find any reviews on the Extreme3 from searching. Anyone know of the Extreme3 and how well it functions? Only 3 reviews up on Newegg for the thing, all of them are 5 eggs, but 3 is kind of a little number to go on for reviews.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...20M5A99X%20EVO = EVO

Before you buy any ASRock product, you should read this evaluation: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/...erboard_review

*edit* Also, here's an image that was posted in the discussion thread under that review, not very reassuring:

Hmmm, yeah not reassuring at all, and def not worth saving 20$ over. I might toss out 40 extra bucks and get the ASUS Sabertooth just to cover my bases and not have to upgrade for awhile.

Toms Hardware review & testing of Intel's new Sandy Bridge-E i7-3960X CPU

I'm really disappointed in both AMD and Intel with their newest processor offerings. Neither Bulldozer or Sandy Bridge-E has presented a compelling upgrade argument over their previous generations (Phenom II or the Core i7-9xx series).

Sandy Bridge-E is VERY good if you're into heavy multimedia applications though.

The problem with Sandy Bridge E is the price tag. $1k is a lot to spend when you can get an i7-2600k for $300.

Well there is a K-series version for like $500, but even that's too much especially when you consider you get no performance gain in gaming.

Also, the Sandy Bridge-E CPUs do not include a heatsink at all. Intel is selling a branded water cooler (made by Asetek) for an additional $100. That's RIDICULOUS.

qft but at the same time, it's a new socket so not all aftermarket hsf are ready for it, yet.

I dont know anything about computers. Can someone tell me how this would compare to anything that could be built with a budget of $800 bones

    http://dealnews.com/Dell-XPS-8300-Co...ng/519131.html

Dell Home offers the Dell Studio XPS 8300 Intel Core i7 3.4GHz Desktop PC (no monitor) for $749.99. Coupon code "LM?BF7P$FR9KCK" cuts it to $649.99. I honestly wouldn't buy a Dell Tyven, even if you don't know jack about computers it's pretty easy to build one if you look online or know a buddy who can do it, and you'll save a lot of hassle down the road when you upgrade and shit.

You swallow or spit Tyv? Cause that's gonna be a major factor in getting any help.
