Picked up my 3ds earlier today. I really hate the 3d, its just so gimmicky. To me, its the type of thing you show off to someone, but then after, just instantly turn it back off again. Pilotwings is kinda fun though, reminds me of being younger.

edit: My recommendation is: Phoenix Wright games, Dragon quest 4/5/6, ghost trick, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Chrono Trigger, Mega Man Zero Collection, Professor Layton games, and The World Ends With You. Can add more but this should do for now.
I thought about getting one when I was near my gamestop on sunday, but then I realized that I wouldn't use it unless my flashcart worked on it or one was out for it. Then I was debating getting one to resell on ebay, pretty happy I didn't go that route either considering how abundant they are.
Looks like my acekard2i would run DS roms fine, but I'll wait till a 3ds one comes out or there is a magic firmware update allowing mine to run 3ds games.
Awesome
I want a Yu-Gi-Oh AR card game. Would be amazing to play with the 3d effect on the cards.

My roommate picked up the 3DS at midnight release cause he needed a new DS and figured he should go with the newest model. After playing with the cool yet gimmicky AR cards for 30 mins he tried to check out the virtual console shop but found out he'd have to wait for a future update. Disappointed, he tried to use the internet browser to find out that too is unavailable. Next he went to a data management option and found out that again, it was unavailable until this future update. We checked online and the update isn't until late May, 2 months after the release. The next morning he returned it and got a DSiXL.
I don't understand how they can get away with not including so many features, especially something simple like the internet browser. How would that take 2 months to include? It's on the DSi and XL just fine. Now I'm not saying this isn't a cool piece of hardware with neat technology and I'll probably get one myself around Christmas when they finally have a finished product, but I just don't understand why there is so much missing and it's going to take 2 months to add them. I expected 2 weeks tops. Granted he should've done his research before buying, but then again he didn't expect to buy an unfinished product.
That actually looks pretty entertaining.
Well, nice to see he's getting back to his roots.
Got one, and love it. Not for the 3D. Thats really cool but the subtle things like the street pass, friends code, etc are a nice step up. The hardware is attractive too. I wouldnt buy this from the get go if your on the fence, but it will be a must when the summer line up hits.
The only thing stopping me from getting one outright and just using it as a new ds player is the battery life, and on that note has anyone gotten that nyko battery pack thingy? Supposedly it doubles the battery life, but ive heard very little about it; or maybe we might get lucky and nintendo may make an official battery pack in the future, like sony did with the psp.
i got my 3DS at noon, let it charge fully. played breifly, and since ive been home (10pm) ive had it running mii stuff and pokemon. i still have over 50% of my battery life. i think if u run 3d perpetually u will drain it. the dock is so nice though, no reason to just sit it in there when ur not playing it...
another note after playing pokemon for the past couple of hours. the touch screen seems so much more responsive and accurate. i feel like hitting every command is easier and more like second nature. i felt i really had to pay attention sometimes on older DS models.

Monster Hunter 3DS revealed by an employee translating the game to English?
A few hours ago I posted a rumor. The website TGBus.com had published a report a few days ago in relation to the possibility of Monster Hunter on the Nintendo 3DS. But it was unclear. Google Translate didn’t do a whole lot for us. But a Chinese reader shared the following translation:
It has been rumoured that “Monster Hunter” will be out on the 3DS even before its launch, and has now been confirmed by an employee who works for a company which translates games from Japanese into English. “Monster Hunter 3DS” does exist and it was originally to be announced on 13th of March in the Fukuoka conference and the “Monster Hunter Festa 11″ in many other places
…and:
But we all know that these events have been cancelled due to the recent earthquake. However, as the famous producer Yoshinori Ono has admitted that there will be many new game launches on the 3DS in the future, those who hope Monster Hunter to be on the 3DS can be looking forward to hearing this new game from the Capcom Captivate 2011 next month.”
TGBus has been the source of leaks in the past, so I have a good feeling about this one.
