Installing a Secondary IDE HD in PC With Sata Main

I'm kind of a tech nub here and I just began looking into this issue. I have a newer PC, and an older IDE HD I'd like to add to it.

Are there any conflicts between installing a second drive not of the same type (IDE versus SATA?). It's possible to have both it seems yes?

Can a secondary HD be added without wiping/reformatting it first? Or can it only be added as a sort of second "bin" to hold more space?

This post probably sounds like a lazy way to ask for help, but google is being tricky trying to come up with specific answers about putting SATA and IDE together. Most results only talk about one or the other. Thanks.

just make sure the sata drive is set to boot before the ide one in the bios and you'll be fine. shouldn't be any problems. can have both no problem.

I'm looking into that, any good links to read about changing the boot priority in BIOS for nubs?

Edit: I'm dumb and assumed to early. They're both SATA anyways. But still thanks for any replies.
