not at all. If my kids don't act up, I'll have no reason to touch them other than parental love. If they do silly little things that don't warrant martial law, they won't get it. however, if they do deserve the full extension of the law, who the hell am I to refuse them?

My family never hit me, they just broke me down emotionally and made sure I knew how completely worthless I am. I remember they used to have family meetings where they'd all sit around me and tell me how much of a failure I am until I started crying.

it's not a case of bad thing done = this kind of punishment because, assuming you have 2 or more kids, the same physical response to the same bad thing they do may not have the same results for both kids. maybe one kid responds positively to physical force and the other doesn't and responds better to something else.

maybe both your kids don't respond well to it and you won't know until that happens and probably really won't know if the actions you took worked until years down the road

you're right; it should be based on a kid-to-kid basis. However, I should be able to layeth the smacketh down on my kid without some twat of a person to go "oh gawd you hit that child" and try to get me arrested.
