Aren't all things 'artificial' in a MMO? Not being a smartass but subjobs in FFXI, level requirements for raids in WoW, level requirements for gear, JP midnight etc.

Well, imo, I think ALL dungeons should be level capped once you enter them. That keeps them relevant across the board and allows your 'high level' buddies to run the dungeon with you and have it still be interesting and challenging. If you want to solo, play Diablo or any other offline RPG game. :D
That's fucking retarded. It's not about wanting to play solo, but being forced to play solo when the contents is abandonned by the rest of the playerbase.
Remember Return to the depth? No? Probably because no one was fucking doing it. How can you hope to complete this quest chain when no one care about the prerequisite or the reward after the first couple of week.
As fun as it would have been in a party, the only players who care enough are a rare bred of completitionist, and I'm sure they will reach a point where waiting 2 years to find a group is not worth it.
Contents should be accessible all the time, and when its not, soloing (lowman) should be made possible.
Yea...maybe the option to level cap a la level sync. I just like the option so that you can run with your lower level friends and enjoy it. Not everybody is apart of that 'content abandoned'. In the end, it works well in WoW.
Yes, I see your point. I think it was just pure bad luck I actually failed the resist check for that webbing thing (I haven't done so in any run since, though I guess I learned a couple of tricks too). My point should have more clearly been aimed at the lack of party size or level caps, which is what I was trying to say before I got lost in my own anecdote >_<
New party search system in 1.18 it seems.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...027#post199027We confirmed with the development team that along with the implementation of instanced raids, they will be looking into enhancing the convenience of the party member search system. A raid search option will be added along with a feature that allows players to indicate they are searching for a party outside of raids.
We are currently performing thorough tests to ensure there are no problems for implementation.
Could be one of the many reasons for the maintenance (hopefully). With all the shit they've promised to change, I'd think they need to do some preliminary stuff first. This is SE we're talking about after all.
Anyone gonna post a thread on the 4Gamer interview, or yall gonna wait for "official" translation? Reinheart on Lodestone made some translations.

I guess Yoshida posted directly on one of the JP forums. Supposedly about the emptiness of Gridania and some other stuff.

Here is the best I got
Spoiler: show
Not sure I understood that last question/answer in the interview correctly. Is Yoshida saying that some characters from the FF series will show up in FFXIV and one of them is supposed to pop up with 1.18?
Yeah he probably means the summons then. Maybe he's talking about Ifrit?
Could be Cid to. I'm just assuming Bahamut since Yoshida did confirm he had plans for him back around Winter.
Maybe they'll pull a FF1 where you need to complete a quest for Bahamut to unlock your job? (GLA > PLD, PLG > MNK, etc.)
