Looks like a lot of info in that last post by Yoshida. Unfortunately G-Translate isn't helping.

Reinheart is making Bayohne jobless.
Producer/Director Yoshida here,
Thank you all for your comments and fears regarding this. Regarding the Leves, just as posted on the letter, Leve's should of been where you get the "reward on completion" and being adjusted to that way. So "levelinking and cancelling" (the GL) will be corrected. (Should make it clear right?) (If you didn't know some people grouped up and linked leves where you kill lots of mobs and before finishing the leve cancelling, that way you can take the leve again on next leve restart.)
From my point of view this was "Broken Balance" so the policy that existed at launch of this game will change after 1.18 patch. You will gain enough SP after completion of the leve, if you look at this as single leve then sure it will look as a downgrade.
While solo players get rewards after completing leves, we will make more changes towards "Party Hunting" in public field or SP's gained after completing quests will be made also. (translation might be wrong here) I think at least this much is standard. But looking at amount of work needed, it will be till 1.20 to reach my goal of "what I think how the balance of standard rank growth content should be"
We also have mini contents such as beastmen fortress, chocobo defense, hamlet. Along with fixing the battle, adjustment to positions and level of mobs in public fields, Reward adjustment, (mob) repop adjustments, are being worked on. Gatherers will see SP gain calculation changes. Crafter will also see craft recipe change in 1.19, and making so you can enjoy gaining rank while crafting items.
There may be a temporary situation where you may think "Overall SP got bad" since we can't put everything into 1.18. We are working as much as we can to have these changes done fast, please help us through the forums. It is a big help from everyone, and those who play FFXIV thoroughly.
Was planning to post this in the letter but the feeling of being tied to specific play style which we have currently will start changing with 1.18. From anima transportation, we can't touch it right away (posted on another thread already), Warp Cost, Fatigue system will also have changes. Specially the "if you dont' do the leve everyday you will lose type of feeling" is being worked on to be changed in 1.19 (working to make it happen by 1.19) where we're looking into a ticket system (keeping more leve's??) (For more details will talk about it after the 1.18 release).
It will be a long way on the large-scale changes which will start from 1.18; we understand some may get angry (would like to avoid as much as possible ; -; ) Please continue to play and give feedback so we can make decisions for the future of FFXIV with everyone!
Chocobo Defense?
I think this really quiets some of the fears my players had about it "feeling bad right away". I think the long-term outlook always has to be considered in this game. Sure people are allowed to QQ all they want, but changes come in stages. Caterpillars don't become butterflies without a lot of work beforehand. This isn't me being optimistic of course, just providing a healthy perspective.
"Fatigue system will have changes"...? I thought he was just going to get rid of it?
Just looking through the dev tracker, I found some things that haven't (I think) been posted in this thread yet.

Wanted to let you all know that we will be making it possible to cancel spells while casting by using the jump key or the ESC key. Have no fear that we do have plans for it! (The jump key method would of course be once it is implemented…)

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...227#post205227Spoke with Battle Master Matsui to get the lowdown on the whole gear swapping question that's got you all buzzin'. In regards to swapping gear while in battle, since changing certain gear while in battle will change your class in FFXIV, we're not planning to make it possible to swap gear in battle. This direction will not change in the future.
We are focusing instead on making adjustments with the battle-related fixes to ensure that you can battle to your utmost ability without having to rely on changing gear multiple times mid-fight.
I know this is an old topic, and I'm sorry it took me so long to get further details for a response, but I wanted to confirm that you will need to be wearing the equipment that you want to transform into materia.
THE JUMP KEY?!
Oh fucking sweet! Didn't know they were actually going forward with that.
Also, glad they are not going along with the whole gear swapping shenanigans from XI.
And the waterworks start about gear swapping. Hilarious.
EDIT: After reading the translation Hyan posted I'm pretty curious what chocobo defense will be. Nice they still have hamlet defense on the list.
I can't believe anyone wants gear swapping.
Thank god no gear swapping.
Thank fucking god they're not going this route, we don't have enough inventory space as it is to carry a ton of situational gear especially given the nature of crafting being actual jobs. I can't imagine how bad it would be to expect someone to carry 10+ diff items per job for situational use while leveling multiple DoH/plus crafting gear etc.
I'm going to start calling "The Lodestone" Fox news now.
We're still going to have inventories full of situational stuff, it will just be dictated by the event/battle as a whole, and not by the immediate split-second spell/ability/attack. Especially when gear starts carrying more specialized stats. You'll just have to swap to it before you engage if you know what enemy is coming up next in an event.
Especially with the Ifrit fight around the corner, it would probably be wise to get some Garnet Earrings/Choker/Circlet just for that fight (if it's challenging enough).
There's a huge difference between gearing for a specific fight and swapping gear for every action you perform in battle.

EDIT: Will be a system to gain XP while offline in the future: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post209177
Moar
In response to the jumping comment:Checked in with Matsui about the possibility of sneak and invisible in FFXIV. In regards to a sneak/invisible (item/ability/spell, etc.) that can be used by all classes, the dev. team is not planning on going in a direction where sneak/invisible are required, or if you don’t have sneak/invisible you can't proceed, so there are no plans for them currently.
and:Just to clarify, I wasn't joking in my post, sorry if I made the wrong impression (based on my usual hilarious anecdotes...) Sorry if I made anyone jump to that conclusion!
We asked Yoshida if there would ever be a system implemented that gives bonus EXP when not logged into the game. He let us know that the release period has not been decided yet but we are going to do it!
Sounds like free jumping ><
They're going wild tonight. A lot of good information too, maybe they finally understand that communicating doesn't just mean saying they're looking into it.
