I'm hoping more towards 1.18 will be next week sometime or the week after.

I hope for sunday update lol....
Lots of great info, keep going! lol.
I know and I agree. I'm just saying that lack of gear-swapping isn't alone going to relieve inventory issues when you can still change your equipment per mob. That's where the cookie cutter crap will come back into play. You'll have sets for individual mobs instead of sets for individual abilities/spells. It's a huge improvement (I fucking hate gear-swapping), but it doesn't automatically remove problems with inventory.
As long as people aren't flickering and flashing constantly in fights (and in PVP, which often-times dropped a target lock on them)...
Translation of Yoshida's post regarding leveling/content.
SOURCE: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post209336Hi, this is Producer/Director Yoshida.
In regards to the questions cropping up about what will be done to party content now that leves are being made for solo play, we are thinking about the below for the future of FFXIV.
(Keep in mind that these are just examples and we’ll be adding unique new features and upgrading them.)
Casual Party Content
•Behest
•Public dungeons
•Instanced dungeons
•Variety of defense battles/Chocobo escort-related features
We are planning to make adjustments to behest to make it more of a completion-type battle. We plan on improving Behest in stages beyond its current form.
Party Content
•Hunting NMs
•Beast tribe settlement battles
•Instanced raid battles
End-game content
Along with PvP, we are also envisioning a large-scale PvE, but since we are not really at the stage where we can release information, I’d appreciate it if you just take this as "They're gonna do it!!" for now.
For soloing as well, we are planning to increase the amount of content that can be enjoyed constantly while placing emphasis on quests and leves, being mindful to maintain a balance between the two.
In the future, I would like to keep on enhancing the experience point gains through quest completion and exp. parties in public fields. This is because at the very least, I feel this is "normal." However, I think the work will continue up to about 1.20 until the game reaches a point where I think the balance of ranking up methods is normal.
I wanted to mention this in the letter, but from patch 1.18 we will begin reforms to remove the current feeling that players are being bound to specific play styles. Travel-wise anima is a bit hard to touch on right now (as I've referenced in another thread), but we will be making edits to the return costs and surplus system in the same fashion. Especially in regards to the feeling that a loss will be incurred if you don't do leves every day, we are looking into implementing a type of ticket system that will let you store them up, and heading into 1.19 we will be starting the specification edits of this. (I will talk about the details of this in the letter following the release of patch 1.18.)
I deeply apologize for the current lack of content and focus on the core fixes, but we have solidified our plans, so please look forward to the future!
Wonder what they consider public dungeons.
I would assume it's crawling through Tam-Tara/Copperbell/Nanawa/Mun-Tuy/Mistbeard/Cassiopeia/etc.
Yoshida seems really confident of his plans and I hope he's right. It's nice to know that the direction has been finalized and we'll see the results soon enough.
Good too see noone of the piss easy nms we got till now are considered endgame.
So they just said they will be adding rested exp in the future.
My take on the matter is that 50% fatigued exp will become the norm and anything over is rested and it'll be called bonus exp again. It'll be the exact same thing.
I hope it's just a EXP bonus buff similar to rings from XI.
Sadly no news today. Was hoping for a report about fixing gear stats in this patch.
Yeah, so casuals lose. LOL
You got what you wanted, community.

Yoshida is posting haikus I think!
He also said they're testing the last reidobosu today, and the QA team just wiped to it. Or something.
Stat algorithms won't be fixed before 1.19.Sadly no news today. Was hoping for a report about fixing gear stats in this patch.
Physical level won't be abolished before 1.19.
That said, it would make sense that every change related to the new stat algorithms (such as the gear stat reforms, action effects rebalancing, materia system) won't be implemented beforehand either. Only changes related to enmity and AA implementation.
Aww dang, that stinks. I'm still wondering if I should hold on to my Templar Hauby in hopes that when they do balance stats on gear it'll actually be worth using outside of looks.Stat algorithms won't be fixed before 1.19.

Every post Yoshida makes seems to reaffirm the notion that Tanaka was just a complete tool.
It would have been nice if EXACTLY THIS was going on, say, a year ago.
Truth.
Yoshida sounds confident in what he's doing, but not arrogant. He also is quick to explain why he is thinking what he is, and it's usually based on experience playing other popular games.
I like that he's not afraid to learn what has worked, rather than following his own vision regardless of what the rest of the industry is doing.
If SE developed more games that way, maybe they wouldn't be hemorrhaging money and getting most of their releases panned critically.
Added Pvp eh?
He sounds like a normal guy in today's MMO market that wants to make money, IE: he's using the correct method and tools to engage and sustain a user-base. Too bad SE didn't give more guys like him a chance, and earlier. They may have avoided much of this XIV fiasco if he was at the wheel since development.
It's a shame Yoshi P didn't handle the game from the outset. It seems like it could have truly been the game most of us wanted if he was in charge from Day 1
